You sat in the courtyard right outside of school under the cherry blossom tree. Your bag laid on the ground unattended as you lay across a bench. Everything just weighed on you, school stress and trying to work out a plan to get money. Work seemed boring and your parents were not into the idea of an allowance. You were looking up at the clouds imagining a world without responsibilities. Your eyes drift close. Something hoovers over you. Your eyes open, blurry at first but you notice the brown hair and brown eyes. "Hello." Asahi picked up your bag and set it up at the bench. "Hey," you say back drowsily. You sit up and allow him to sit on the bench next to you. Pushing your hair back, you start to wake up. Asahi is right next to you. "Should I be worried a volleyball is going to hit me?" You ask jokingly but you weren't certain of your odds. "I won't let it hit you again." There was silence. An awkward silence. You stared into Asahi's eyes and felt a sort of safety. A connection sparked between your eyes, the emotions inflamed and your hearts'. Invisible strings pulled you two closer. "I'm sorry." He said as he broke the loving stare, slowly backing away. "It's fine," you say under your breath and back away too.

~Asahi's POV~

"Why did I do that?" you say to yourself. "(y/n) barely seemed to notice you! I highly doubt they even cared. I care though..." You put your hands in your pocket as you walk home early. "I skipped practice for them, only to be the one who felt something."

~Your POV~

You get home to an empty and dull house. Your mom and stepdad were probably out on a nice dinner date, which they seemed to do monthly. They have too much money to know what to do with it. Your step brother is probably at his volleyball practice. A stupid third-year. You collapse on your bed. Your mind traces to Asahi.

After a week you and Asahi kept talking. A sweet friendship grew. You also grew to know many other volleyball players. You got to know the new manager girl too. The excitement was all around Spring Interhigh tournament. You were only allowed to get out of school to see it during semi-finals and finals. You hoped your step bro makes it. You have a gut feeling he will. The boys left this morning to head to Tokyo. You were alone in the back of class without Noya. You do smile remember waving at Asahi telling him goodbye and good luck. His smile gave you confidence that he would do well. It also made you smile even brighter. That made you embarrassed as you look down to break the eye contact, but it made him laugh. Just imagining running up to Asahi after he wins the Interhigh for Karasuno made you blush. The feeling of wanting to be the first person he thinks of when he gets that trophy. You drift off to sleep once again.

Karasuno made it to semi-finals. Asahi texted you about it all night. You two have done that lately. You would talk on the phone for hours or text all night. It's not like you slept anyway. Your mom opened your door and poked her head in, late after her dinner night, your stepdad smiling over her head. "Your brother made it to semi-finals! That means you won't go to school tomorrow, we are driving to Tokyo since it's his last year to cheer him on!" you smile excitedly. No school tomorrow for you. The happy thoughts drift you back to sleep.

You wake up to the sun shining into your room, how nice. You knew your brother already left, so you get up and get ready. You wear your brother's old warm-up outfit he grew out of the first year. You keep the jacket unzipped and open and you put your cold hands in the pockets. You walk downstairs as your mom and stepdad seemed super happy. Asahi couldn't talk much last night because he needed to sleep and you supported him. The drive to Tokyo was sightful, but something you have seen many times before. Your family even wanted to move to Tokyo but decided their volleyball life was way more important. Everyone in your family played volleyball, your mom only played in Junior High, then quit. She still plays when it's family time- yes, your family time is going to the gym Friday evenings and playing two-on-two volleyball with your mom, stepdad, and stepbrother. You get out to see the nice building ahead. You walk in and see the same color you are wearing. Of course, your stepbrother was the center of attention, being the captain and all. You sneak onto the gym floor to go hug him. "Y/n," he said with concealed excitement. He embraces you and you look to the other team. How stupid are you! You knew Aoba Johsai and Karasuno went to semi-finals and that would obviously mean they were playing against each other. The saddest part was meeting Asahi's eyes. He looked so sad as you held to your stepbrother, Oikawa Tooru.
