"Olivia!" Elliot called from inside the house. Christopher, Cynthia, and I were outside playing basketball, and I honestly had no idea why'd he be calling my name.

"Here Chrissy," I spoke, as I handed him the basketball. I tightened my ponytail as I ran up the path and into the front door.

"El? What's wrong?" I asked, and my husband smiled.

"We are getting our first foster child!" He exclaimed, and my eyes went wide.

"Uh, correction, it'll be our second foster child ever. When are they arriving?" I asked, and Elliot smiled.

"Tomorrow morning. It's a little girl. However, we can't get attached."

"Well, what not?"

"Because it is just for a few days. Her parents are under investigation for child abuse, but they think someone just called in a false report. So for about a week or so she'll be living here with us." Elliot spoke.

"Well, I'm glad she is getting placed with us and not into some group home. But it's sad that someone might've filed a false report." I sighed, and Elliot nodded.

"Yeah, but we can be foster parents while we wait for you to get pregnant." He smirked, and I groaned as I turned to head back outside.

"I told you that if it'll happen, it'll happen. Stop bringing it up and making me embarrassed!"

We avoided telling Christopher about the girl who is coming to stay with us because we needed him to sleep. He had school in the morning, and I didn't want him to be exhausted for that.

"So, I'm going to get those extra sheets out for her. I'll make the bed while you take Chris to school. Then I'll ask the sitter to come over and watch her during the day while working since we really can't take too much time off if we are going to have a baby soon." Elliot spoke, and as usual, he worked a baby into a conversation that probably wouldn't have one in it.

"You are horrible." I sighed, as I finished making Christopher's sandwich.

"I am, but I'm excited and can't wait. Want me to go and try and get him up?" Elliot asked as he watched me grab a knife and an apple.

"Sure, I'll finish getting his lunch around, and then I'll make his breakfast." I smiled softly. Elliot walked over and kissed me several times before turning and heading out of the kitchen.

"Do you have food?" Cynthia asked as she came in from the garage.

"Do you not have food in your apartment?" I asked, and my sister shook her head.

"I haven't had a chance to go shopping yet because I've been working like 15 hour days." She sighed, and I chuckled a bit as I handed her the apple I had grabbed.

"Eat this. I'll get you some today when I go shopping with Christopher and our newest house guest."

"You are the best twin sister ever." Cynthia smiled before she kissed my cheek and headed to the garage apartment.

I grabbed another apple and finished cutting that as Elliot came into the kitchen with our very sleepy son. Every morning, Elliot and I had to get Chris dressed while he was still half asleep. Then after breakfast and about 10 minutes off cuddle time with me, while Elliot finished getting ready, he was awake and ready to brush his teeth.

"Hey, baby." I smiled, as I put the apple into a container and tucked it into the lunchbox before zipping it.

"Momma, let me sleep," Chris whispered as Elliot passed him to me.

"Oh, you need to stay up my love. Daddy and I have a surprise for you after school."

I took Chris to school while Elliot got the house around for the girl. I went to a store and got her a small stuff bear, hoping that it would make her like us more. When I got home, Elliot was in the living room waiting for the caseworker to come and bring the girl.

"So, I believe our son has a girlfriend." I sighed, as I entered the house and sat the small bear on the coffee table.

"He has a girlfriend? He's four!" Elliot exclaimed, and I nodded.

"Yeah, but as soon as I dropped him off in his class, he went running to that little girl, Pia, and hugged her and grabbed her hand. Then I started to talk to Pia's mom, and our son kissed her cheek!" I exclaimed, and Elliot laughed.

"I knew he'd be a little ladies man. Is that for the girl?" Elliot asked, as he picked up the bear and looked at it.

"I wanted to give her something nice. Being taken from her home must be scary, and having something nice to have would help. It helped me before."

"You are great." Elliot smiled. I sat next to him, before wrapping my arms around his waist. I leaned in and kissed him deeply. We continued to deepen it until our doorbell rang. I pulled away from Elliot and quickly stood.

"We can do this right?"

"Yeah, we can."

[*]

"Lea, do you want a snack?" I asked the small girl, as we waited for Elliot to bring Christopher home. I asked them to do the shopping because I didn't want to and because I didn't know how Lea would react to only being here with the goofball I call my husband.

"What do you have?" She asked. Her voice was incredibly small-sounding, but when I found out she was actually 6, it surprised me. She was so small.

"Well, what do you like?" I smiled, and she shrugged a bit.

"I dunno."

"I have apples, and there may be a pear left. Then I have some crackers and if you don't tell my son or husband, I might be able to give you a cookie." I smiled, and she giggled a bit.

"Can I have that cookie?" She asked, and I grinned.

"Of course."

After finding the cookies that Elliot and Christopher 'hid' from me, I poured some milk into a glass and sat the cup and the cookie in front of the girl.

"How long do I think I have to stay here?" Lea breathed.

"I don't know darling. I do know, however, that we will do anything for you, alright?"

"You'll read me a story before bed?"

"Of course. My son, Christopher loves to have a bedtime story read to him. Speak of which, they will be home soon. You should eat that cookie before they get here."
