Emma

Everything stopped and for a moment; like the big clock that kept time going had just quit.

Another shot rang over the gymnasium . Everything went slow as I my head spun, I could hear the ticking of my heart in my ears

my silent panic escalated.

Then quiet of time stopping was replaced by screams of fear.

I covered my ears to protect them from the loud bangs as shot after shot rang out over everyone drowning out the screams.

Ripping them apart to just vibrations though the air that rattled by brain.

Carters hand released his grip on mine dissipating into the crowd.

"CARTER!"

I searched desperately over the crowded gym.

Something hit the back of me full force.

I collapsed to the floor feeling my ribs being crushed with the impact.

I was rendered useless now pinned to the floor by a lifeless body.

I cried for help As people scattered like roaches in a light crashing into the exits, and pouring out the doors.

I yelled louder hoping maybe somebody would hear me over the sounds of the gunshots.

I saw the coat tails of a familiar tuxedo dash over me. "Has anyone seen Emma?!"

"Dylan over here! please help me!"

"Emma!" He spun around his eyes meeting mine from the floor.
He dashed to my rescue, grabbing my hand and pulled me out from underneath The person.

I gasped in pain as Dylan stood me on my feet. "Can you walk?" I shook my head, Dylan scooping me off my feet.

It seemed like all of this happened in the second Before another shot rang out above me.

I was waightless for a moment, and then the full weight of my own body crashed down onto the floor. My head hitting the ground hard.

Everything spun, and my ears rang my mind desperately trying to get back on track.

Before the realization it hit me, I looked at Dylan sprawled on the floor beside me.

His hand clung to his chest in pain. Red was begging to soak though his white blazer as he lay there gasping for air.

I watched in horror, "it's okay Em- its okay." He spoke though a pained groan and smiled at me his eyes begging to sink back into his head.

I reached out to grab his hand, "no Dylan you gotta Stay with me." I stretched my arm not being able to reach.

I watched as his crystal blue eyes went grey and rolled back into his head.

His chest raised as he struggled to take a shallow breath his eyes closing.

I felt the tears start to run down my face collecting in the puddle of blood that was now pooling in front of me.

Dylan was one of my best friends, I'd known him since elementary school. Our moms where friends shit we where raised together. I loved him like a brother.

He whispered something to me; squeezed my hand, And then it fell limp. "I got you" I sobbed not being able to choke the words out. I pulled myself closer to him.
