"Mommy watch!" I whined, I was standing at the edge of the diving board, trying to get my parents attention, but they were still talking to Grandma and Grandpa. "Carter go tell them to watch me!" I whined again, I wanted to show them my new trick. Carter swam over to the shallow end and told the grown ups to watch me.
"Ok we're watching Lindy!" Grandma said "Ok I am gonna do a back flip!" I yelled, Mommy looked nervous."Lindy do you know how to do this?"I laughed "Mommy I did it into a foam pit at the gym, so I think I can do it!" Mommy still looked nervous. "Ok!"
I jumped off and flipped back, just like I practiced on the trampolines at the gym. I hit the water and swam back up to the surface. "I did it! I did it! I did it!" I swam to the side "Nice job Lindy" Carter said "Thanks! I can teach you if you want" I told Carter "Yess! Can you please Lindy! Carter said grabbing my hand. "Maybe later, but right now Lindy has to go get ready for gymnastics practice." My mom said. "Sorry Carter, maybe later."I climbed out of the pool, grabbed a towel and climbed the stairs. My room was decorated with gymnastics posters and sparkles. I decided on a tie-dye leotard with an open back. I grabbed my gymnastics bag and headed down the stairs. "Let me put your hair up" Mommy said when she saw me, I hated having my hair put up but Coach Stacy said it was a safety issue. Mommy quickly put my hair into two french braids. "Lets go!" I said heading out the door, I grabbed Mommy's keys for her and walked to the door.
"On the way back can we stop at Burger King!" I asked. We were in the car heading to gymnastics. Grandma had come with us because she and Grandpa were visiting from Miami and she wanted to see me do my thing. I don't know what that means but thats what she said. We pulled into the parking lot of my gym and I smiled. This was the best place on earth!

I opened the car door and she ran into the gym. My mom and I followed her into the gym and sat in the viewing area. "Ok ladies, lets start with conditioning." I could hear Coach Stacy say. Lindy was 7 years old and was in level 6. She was with girls that were at least 2-3 years older. But she still tried to fit in, trying extra hard at every skill, practicing forever in the basement at home, never taking a break. Maybe were pushing her to hard? No, look at her, first one done with the laps and backwalkovers across the floor.
Flashback Angie Pove
"Mommy Im going to be in the Olympics for America!" 6 year old Lindy said. I smiled "Honey only a couple of little girls like you get to go to the Olympics for USA." She was quiet for a moment then smiled "Then I'll just have to be one of those girls!"
