Normani's POV

It was a cold misty Monday morning. The first day of the new month and I was excited.

October fall brought joy to my heart. Theres nothing more thrilling than late night halloween parties, liquor, drugs, and a break from reality..even if it meant for just one night.

I pulled into the high schools parking lot behind a few other students who were slowly making their way around the crowded lot in search of a parking spot.

I drove a Lexus Rc, atomic silver. Its a car of luxury to me, I guess you could say my parents are very well off Most of the students that live within the area come from more so "old money". While my parents lived and breathed in the new.

I managed to find a spot, at the far end of the lot which was preferred, way too many teens just not learning how to drive I'll be mad if my baby gets even scratch.

I went to Sear high, a predominantly black high school with its few strays.

My mothers choice.

She's always been pro-black. And anything involving black excellence is like gold in her eyes.

That's why I dedicate my afternoons at times to run the Melanated March club! March because it's the first month of spring, and also comes after black history month.

She's been proud of that, she's been so focused on me ever since my sister left for college, it's been a little bit suffocating.

After taking my time to gather myself in the car I finally made my way towards the large building, Passing fools my age as they form crowds around each others cars.

One thing I hate is an idiot in a sports car.

"Heyy Mani!" Alexa greeted, pushing her long brunette hair behind her ear as she settled next to me.

"Hi, Demie. I greeted back sharing a small smile. She had a devilish smirk on her face.

That's never a good sign.

Meaning its time to listen to music. I already know where this is going.

I put my headphones on and took my phone out. "Absolutely not!" She says, snatching my phone out of my hand.

"Look, Mani, you're a senior and prom is coming up you've already missed homecoming you're not missing this, You're going!" Alexa exclaimed while holding my phone up in the air.

"Girl, I don't wanna go! I just wanna get through this year and smoke until I have to get ready for college."

I managed to grab both her arms to snatch my phone back, She groaned and me a flyer.

"Alexa, what is this for?"

"Just open it!"

I open the flyer and read the bold words.

Romeros pizzeria's annual
21+ LGBT blind dating.

"NO!" I shouted and crumpled the flyer.

She rolled her eyes, taking it from my hands.  Come on! It's 21 and up blind dating, It'll be great!" She said.

"Alexa, I literally just turned 18 I don't want to go out of my comfort zone just to please a bunch of 40-year-olds who haven't heard of tinder and this says no high school students!"

"Mani, they won't even know that you're a high school student, we're going to the Romero's across town! "

This girl is one of the reasons why I semi-hate mornings.
