"Come on Jane." A ginger haired girl sneered, her long, flowing hair making the jump over her shoulder to drape down the front of her sparkling red dress. Another girl with brown hair looked up from a book, her fringe fell out from beneath its sapphire blue hair clip and landed in front of one of her icy eyes. "It'll be fun," the first girl mumbled reaching her thin fingers out towards the book, Jane - the brown haired girl, slowly moved the book backwards away from her clawing grasp. "If your not gonna play why did you even come?" The ginger girl slurred, pouting dramatically. Jane let the leather bound book slip down onto her lap, her blue eyes looking up into the other girls piercingly. "Georgie you know why I came," Jane whispered softly, her voice almost lost to the beat of the music, "I only came to look after you." Georgie - the first girl with burnt orange hair, let out a hearty laugh. Her brown eyes reflecting the flashing lights from across the room, "Jane, I'm two years older than you, I don't need a babysitter." again her arms stretched out towards the book, succeeding in her mission to separate Jane from her book. "Georgie! Come on, give that back!" Jane said irritatedly, holding her small hand out expectantly. Georgie waved the book about in front of Jane's nose, taunting her to grab it. When Jane tried to reach up and take it Georgie pulled it further away, "No, you can't have this back until we've finished playing." Georgie sneered bringing her arm down slowly and tucking the book away safely in her purse. Jane frowned, her face scrunched up into a sour expression. Georgie's arms reached out towards Janes and she took her step sisters hands in hers, "Now let's go have fun, just for tonight. Ok?" Georgie muttered, allowing her tone to become gently and syrup like. A small smile slipped onto Jane's pale face and she nodded before Georgie dragged her away from her secluded hideaway on a chair in the corner of the quietist room in the whole house. Jane winced as Georgie pulled her through the main crowd and towards the patio doors.

The cool air stung their faces as they emerged into the moon light, a pool sat in the centre of the lawn, it's light reflecting off of the houses windows and back down onto the floor, mingling with the moonlight. A soft stream of steam floating from the top of the pool and disappearing against the cold, night sky. A group of teenagers, a mix of boys and girls sat laughing at the edge of the pool, the girls dangled their feet slowly in the water and some of the boys had jumped in and were floating on various rafts: flamingos, ice creams even a giant bottle of beer. One of them noticed Georgie and waved her over, "Come on Jane." She said as she began to stalk over to the others. Jane didn't move, her eyes stayed transfixed on the group, "Actually Georgie I think I'll pass on thi-" Jane began but before she had finished her sentence Georgie was pulling her over and beginning introductions.

"Everyone! This is my step sister Jane." Georgie announced, "Ha, nice dress Dork!" One of the boys muttered but a little too loud causing some of the girls to snicker. Jane looked down at her pale blue dress, the white collar with its long strings and her cream tights that covered her legs to reduce the amount of skin showing. Georgie's eyes moved slowly over to her sister, recognition of her sadness washed over her. "Now you just stop it, just stop it Chad, Janes fun, not plain." Georgie demanded, stamping her heel against the floor with force. One of the girls chimed in next, she had short black hair, cropped around her ears and silver stud earrings that stuck out amongst the darkness. The trim on the bottom of her dresses skirt touched the water gently, dying it a darker shade of pink from its original paleness. "Alright, welcome to the game, plain Jane." She cooed with a snigger, Georgie sat down upon the tiles at the end of the pool. She unbuckled her shoes slowly and then slipped them off, lowering her feet into the heated water with a sigh. Now everyone looked to Jane expectantly who was engrossed in staring at her sensible black pumps, "Come on sis." Georgie slurred, clearly feeling more relaxed than before. Jane looked up and into everyone else's eyes nervously, she was never one to be the centre of attention and now she slipped off her shoes to get rid of that attention. She stopped, just before her feet touched the water. Pulling them back into the side, her hand slipped down the side of the silk of her tights and she pulled the tip of the foot. Yanking her legs out of the cream layer, once the last bit of silk had left her foot she folded them slowly and precisely before plunging her feet into the pool.
