Her Own Choices

"I'm going on the mission," Ash said sternly. The paladins had come back with intel on what Zendak was doing. He had built six Zyforge cannons that if launched, would destroy all of Earth. They'd come up with a plan to destroy the cannons before they could do anymore damage.
"Ash, no, you're not. I'm not going to let you risk your life over this," Keith replied. Ash turned to him, anger laced in her voice.
"And yet you think I'm going to let you? Keith, you're the only family besides Shiro I have left!"
"You are my family!" Keith finally screamed. Ash softened her gaze as she looked at Keith's eyes; they were glazed over.
"Keith..." she whispered. Ash walked over to him and wrapped her arms around his torso. "I love you... but this is something I have to do. I'm going with Lance."
Ash finally felt Keith nod against her as he let out a defeated sigh. She pulled away from Keith and gazed into his eyes. She brushed the hair that fell on his forehead lightly.
"I'll be back, I promise," she muttered. She stood up on her toes and planted a soft kiss on his forehead. Ash pulled away from the hug and left without another word.

Ash stood next to Lance, preparing the car to go to the nearest Zyforge base with his sister Veronica. Lance and Ash were throwing a few jokes around, doing their best to lighten the situation; knowing that if they failed, Earth was gone.
"Hey, Lance?" Came a voice from behind them. Lance and Ash both turned to see Allura standing below them. Ash soon looked away with a huff.
"I wanted to say... be careful out there," she said. Ash couldn't help but glance her way. Allura was blushing. She glanced up at Lance; so was he.
When did that happen...? Ash thought to herself, her mood significantly decreasing. She sniffed and turned her attention back to the car.
   "You too," he finally replied. Allura walked away, and Ash stood up.
   "I'm going to wait inside," she muttered. Ash swung herself off and approached the car. She sidled her way into the back seat and waited.

   "Ash! Lance! Come in!" Came the voices in Ash's earpiece.
"Keith! I'm here-" Ash was cut off as she was thrown from the vehicle, her helmet smashing against the ground uncomfortably. The earpiece obviously broke, leaving her with no communication.
   Lance stood up slowly next to her, his fall having been much worse than hers. He gazed around, spotting Ash. His gaze was full of concern.
   "Veronica?" He asked, turning around violently. "Veronica!"
   He finally spotted his sisters body and ran over to her. She had fallen meters from the crashed vehicle.
   "Lance..." she mumbled. Lance curled Veronica into his arms.
   "Veronica! You're okay-" Lance was cut off by shooting sentries. He took out his shield and stuck it into the the ground, his Bayard quickly forming into his gun as he began shooting at the robots.
   Ash quickly swung herself over the small cliff and positioned herself behind Lance. She didn't have a long range weapon. There was nothing she could do.
