The year, 3196. The Great War of Mobius I. I decided to join the resistance to defeat others from another planet. They are called humans. We never encountered a 'human' before, but do to our senses, we found out one of them attacked our kind.
"Shouldn't we check those guys out before we attack. After all one attacked not all of them." "Skid, if one of them is considered evil, then all of them are. Admit it. Even if you're right, there's nothing you can defend. They are new to us, and we are new to them."
Mother mostly listened to the newspaper more than my information. No matter how old I was. The only reason I joined the military was because I hated standing doing nothing. I wanted to be part of the action, more than being part of the crowd.
"But, mo-" "But nothing, you're 18 now and since you're about to leave. I wish you good luck. Make me proud just like your father did." "I will, don't worry mother." My mother didn't seem to buy it. It was nothing new. It was daily.
When I walked out of the house, the first thing I realized was I was wrong. War wasn't a thing to laugh at. It was a deadly risk for your life and others.
I was all geared up, ready for the action. The humans seemed to have a similar movement to us, mobians, but for a hedgehog like me. They surely couldn't spindash.
Surprisingly, in the middle of my spinning and rolling, unexpectly I felt a stinging sensation in my right leg. I tripped rolling down a small hill, grabbing my leg tightly, realized I have been shot by one of those monsters.
I tried standing up to continue the bloody resistance, but once again I felt the same painful feeling my right leg had, but this time it was on my chest.
I gripped my chest firmly, sniffing the metallic, dreary smell of blood. I checked my hand, seeing my glove absorbing the red liquid slowly. I continued watching until my eyes couldn't handle the drowsiness my heart was collecting. I fell in a deep sleep of slumber, but this time I wasn't breathing nor responding...
The time passed uncounted. I opened my eyes slowly, first seeing the blinding light of a lightbulb above me. Weakly, trying to lift my arm up, I realized I was cuffed . Once again I attempted to lift of my arm, but it was useless.
My vision became more clear a few minutes later noticing a group of the so-called-humans surrounding me. I narrowed my eyes as a warning and asked coldly to one of the attackers.
"What the hell are you doing to me?" I waited impatiently, but no response was made. Instead a needle was injected in my shoulder, making my eyes widen in shock and my pupils shrink in pain and anguish.
"Strange? Hey, do you know why the doctor needs this anyway?" I tried keeping myself stabilised, so I could hear the rest, I wanted as much information as possible.
"For his granddaugher, she has an il-" My dizziness increased, my body fell limb against the lab table, hoping that it was all a dream. That when I woke up, I was back at home, with my family...
I opened my eyes, slowly. I was no longer in the cold, iron table, instead in a bed. "Good you're awake." My eyes widen, not expecting someone to be watching. Looking to my right, finding a tall, old man wearing a white lab coat, along with goggles. The only thing that well noticable, was his long, brushed, gray moustache.
"Excuse me?" I asked, showing a face of confusion and a little bit of fear. "I know you're confused in what is going on and I know that you're also showing a bit of fear, I understand. You can ask as much questions as you want."
I stood up from the plain, comfy cusion. Looking at the old man, "First of all, who are you?" "Oh how rude of me, my name is General Robotnik. You can call be Dr. Robotnik, if you'd like." I crossed my arms and slowly nodded.
"Ok, how did I get here?" He turned his back at me and answered. "After the war, we found you and decided to help you and your kind. Many recovered and many didn't, sadly. We took them all to their home planet, once they recovered." I narrowed my eyes. "Then how come I haven't returned home?" He turned to face me. "While we researched about you, we found out, you weren't like the others. We discovered you had maximum velocity in your speed. Meaning you can break the sound barrier, but do to a gun shot found in your leg, your speed changed to a lower level. You still can run fast, but not as much as before." I walked closer to him, starring at his eyes. He was telling the truth. "I believe you." I continued. "But why do you need me?"
The doctor looked down at his feet and held his arms behind him, firmly. "Well...I have a granddaughter. She has an illness, that yet doesn't have a cure. Do to my research to find one, I hardly give her much attention. I need someone to be with her, someone to protect her." I looked down at my feet feeling guilty. "Since, you saved me. I guess I'll return the favor."
He kneeled to my height and grabbed my hand shaking it, proudly. "I couldn't thank you much more." He lifted himself up and began walking out the entrance. "Oh and you will mow be called Shadow. Shadow The Hedgehog." He left out of the doorless room, with relief in his face.
I learned something new at least. Not all humans were evil. Some were kind and caring. Also not all mobians are polite. Some are devilish inside.
I should have been attacking them. Instead I just work with them now. Though they are our enemies, they saved my life.
