THE REFRESHING breeze, the sun shines beautifully, blue ocean, the music-like sound of the waves crashing, and ... everything is peaceful.
Nag-iiwan ng bakas sa pinong buhangin ang paa ko. Buburahin naman agad iyon ng tubig dagat na tatama sa dalampasigan.
I don't actually know this place, but it's very familiar for me. I'm happy here and I don't want to go anywhere.
"Eri!"
Napahinto ako sa paglalakad at hinanap ang may-ari ng boses na iyon. Paglingon ko sa aking likuran, I saw Margaux. What is she doing here?
"What are you doing here?" Tanong ko.
"That's my question, stupid. What are you doing here?!" Balik niyang tanong sa akin. She looks pissed. She crossed her arms in front of her chest.
"I like it here--"
She cut me off.
"But this is not real."
"Who cares?" I paused. "As long as he'll be safe, as long as everyone is okay, I'm fine here. Hayaan niyo na ako!"
Margaux glared at me. Tumama sa akin ang malakas na sampal mula sa kanya.
"Wake up! Paano ka nakasisiguro na magiging okay ang lahat dahil lang wala ka?!" Singhal ni Margaux sa akin. Her eyes starting to water. "Alpha ... he'll eventually die without you. And I won't let that happen!" Dagdag niya.
My tears flood down my cheeks. Napahawak ako sa dibdib ko. My heart is aching so bad.
Margaux suddenly hugged me.
"I never thought you would actually sacrifice yourself for us. You know how much I doubted you and hated you for that. I thought you're weak and you're not capable of doing anything to save us. Ang tanga mo talaga alam mo ba yun?" She paused and I heard her sniff. Umiiyak ba siya? "It's not the easiest way that saves us, it's the hardest that will keep us strong 'till the end and survive. Kahit na sa mahirap na paraan, magagawa mo ang imposible. Hindi ka nag-iisa. Hindi mo kailangang akuin lahat. Kaya wag kang stupid, puwede ba?!" Humiwalay siya sa akin at pinunasan ang mata niya.
"W-Why are you suddenly saying those words?" I asked.
"Because you're stupid!" She's back to being herself again. "You're pregnant." And then she smiled.
"B-Buntis ... ako?" Wala sa sariling napahawak ako sa tiyan ko. Imposible!
"It's not impossible. It's not a normal baby after all. It's a new breed. And guess what? You're having a boy. I saw it in my vision." Lumapit ulit siya sa akin at hinawakan ako sa magkabilang balikat. "We'll get through this and you'll have a really happy family. So, let's go back. Please, Eri." Pakiusap niya.
Hindi ko pa rin mapigilan ang pagtulo ng luha ko. I'm too happy I can't contain it.
As a response, I gave her a smile.
I'M catching my breath when I woke up as if I'd been under the water for too long.
