It's been a couple of days after I was dragged back from the doors of heaven at the clinic at Menagerie. Blake's has spent most of that time with me trying to pick up my spirits, after I found out all that I lost.

My left arm and eye are gone, as well as my team. I lost twelve friends to an ambush. I was the only survivor, and only because the humans casted my body to the river, thinking me dead. A farmer at Menagerie found me and called for help.

I thanked him yesterday, even if all I wanted was to drown myself in the river.

Blake stopped me and hasn't left my side since then.

"You'll get better, you'll see." She's been trying really hard to cheer me up. Call me greedy, but I like being the center of her attention.

"No, I won't" I sigh and look at her for the first time in what seems like ages. "Let's face it Blake, there's no way for me to be how I was before." I glare at the stump that's left of my left arm.

"We'll get you a prosthetic arm. I'm sure you'll be able to master it soon, and-" she stops, looking at the eyepatch that covers the mess that is the left side of my face. Most of it is covered by scar-tissue. The doctor said it'll heal, but it doesn't help me feeling any less a monster "some females find scars attractive."

Some females... not her.

My dreams have been shot down already, what's a little more suffering anyway?

Come on (Y/N), smile for the girl. She's trying.

I know I won't make it, so I opt to change topics.

"It was Adam."

"Huh?" her amber eyes find my violet one.

"It's the only thing that makes sense. We all received out orders from him, and they were very specific. 'Be there at that time', he said to me." I look up at Blake "He sent us to die..." I look down and force the next few words out "I know you like him, but he's not the same guy he was... ever since that girl in red arrived" it was heart-breaking, knowing she liked a man who isn't you.

Adam must have known, he must have been there when I told the others how I loved her... he must have planned the whole thing to get rid of me... No, that's far too conceited. No, I think my team was doomed from the beginning, he had reason to dislike us all.

I hear Blake sniffling, I know I'm hurting her, but she needs to understand that the man she loves is a murderer. "It was a set up to wipe out his opposition" my fist trembles with barely contained rage "we opposed the inclusion of humans in our organization, and now everyone is dead." I hit the wall with my fist. It hurts, but it's significantly lesser than the pain of betrayal.

I pull back my arm, about to land another hit on the offensive wall to dull the pain inside me, but instead something soft and warm wraps around my hand, and then moves around me.

I look back to find her hugging me.

"Let's leave" she whispers at my back.

"Leave?" I sincerely don't know what she means. Leave the White Fang? Leave the hospital? The city?

Before I can elbaorate, she continues while looking me in the eye "Let's escape together."

I'm floored. She wants to leave with me?

"Where?" I ask. I'll gladly go with her anywhere, but still I feel I should ask.

She bites her lip and looks away for a moment. "Let's go to Vale."

I turn in her arms and stare into her eyes. I want to hear her answer to this question.

"I have nothing to lose, but you have your parents, friends-" a delicate finger seals my lips.

"My family will understand, and as for friends..." her hand moves from my lips, to cup my face "I have you, don't I?"

I can't help it, I smile. For real.

"Always."
