Tainted love (Blake x MaleReader)

Chapter 3 - I

Getting to the ruins where the relics are was... anticlimactic. It was neither far, nor dangerous.

Of course, the fact that grimms recognize my aura and stay away from someone vastly stronger, is of great help.

As we stand trying to choose which of all the chess pieces to take, Ruby literally falls from the sky, only to crash in mid-air with Jaune.

"Emmm, did your sister just fall from the sky?"

"I-"

At that moment, Nora and Lie Ren enter the clearing, riding a grimm-bear. When it stops and faints, the strange girl complains about it being 'broken'. Then the Schnee girl falls from the sky too, and is 'saved' by Jaune, who breaks her fall... by falling under her.

"Well, now that the whole troupe is together, we can-"

A girl dressed in red and gold suddenly enters the clearing, she's being chased by a giant scorpion, who snaps at her and sends her flying, only to land on top of yours truly.

She's pretty damn heavy. Must be all the armor.

"You ok?" I wheeze out as Blake takes my hand and drags me from under the other girl and to my feet, she seems overly protective today.

The girl in red jumps to her feet and dusts herself. "Yeah, sorry about that."

"No problem. Hi, I'm (Y/N)-"

"Can we leave introductions for later?" Yang interrupts, pointing to the giant scorpion that is rapidly approaching.

"Don't worry, I've got this!" And like that, the red bullet runs off... and gets trapped by one of the feathers the huge bird she rode here, shot. Yang runs after her, but she too is stopped by the feathers.

The scorpion closes on Ruby, I see her close her eyes and suddenly I'm standing in front of her. I hold the creature's tail with my good hand. I can't give it a chance to shake me off so, with my fake hand, I grab the sting and pull with all my strength, sending the grimm flying and landing on its back.

"You ok?" I ask Ruby as I pull the feather off her cape.

She nods numbly and lets out a quiet "thanks."

I nod her way and use the feather I just picked up as a lance, hitting one of the scorpion's eyes. The Schnee girl dashes forward and encases one of its pincers on ice.

"Ruby!" Yang runs up to her sister and hugs her "I thought you were a goner!" after a moment, she turns to me and hugs me too... her bosom pressing nicely against my chest "Thank you for saving her, (Y/N)!"

"Y-yeah. No problem." This is nice, but I can sense Blake's glare on my back, so I step out of her embrace. "How about we leave the bonding for later, and we get out of here?" I motion toward the scorpion, who's trying to get rid of the ice and the giant bird circling us.

"We can't fight them both!"

"Who says we need to fight them? Our objective is right in front of us." Weiss points toward the relics we collected from the ruins.

"She's right. Our mission is to grab an artifact and make it back to the cliffs" once out of the frying pan, Ruby seems more collected. "There's no sense in fighting these things"

"Run and live" Jaune nods and smiles. "That's an idea I can get behind."

Figures he'd be fond of fleeing.

Blake, Yang and I share a look as I pick up the black queen. "Fitting isn't it?" I wink at Blake, making Yang giggle.

The group begins running uphill, following Ruby and Jaune. Blake and I bring up the rear, but we stop to watch the blonde bombshell looking fondly at her sister.

"What is it?" Blake asks her.

Yang smile grows "nothing".

"We might run, but they'll still catch us" I say. I can feel both giant grimm's desire to kill. The stalker is already free from the ice and the nevermore is flying directly toward the ruins on the cliffs we need to reach.

I chance a look back and see the scorpion catching up. The damn thig's fast for its size!

The girl in pink is shooting grenades at the nevermore, buying time for the others to cross the bridge, but then what? She'll be left behind.

...

Well, I said I was bringing the rear, didn't I?

"Hey! Pink ranger!" The girl turns to me, startled. "Get moving!"

She takes one look at the death stalker behind me, nods and bolts from the place.

I should probably follow her... but I don't. Instead I turn around and stand in place.

Behind me, Blake and who I hope are her new friends run for the cliffs. My dear cat princess will be safe once she reaches the other side.

I look at the scorpion and smile. "It's nerd time!" I murmur to myself and prepare to fight.

"YOU SHALL NOT PASS!"

I've always wanted to say that.

This is probably going to hurt, but at least I got that item off the bucket list.
