Walking along the halls, leaving the dead noise of clanking behind, I looked around the spaceship known as The Ark. While I walked, I stopped my tracks, getting attracted picture the window was showing of the outside world of space. The only think seen was a sphere full of colors. Full of life. Just like Mobius. I stopped my starring when children giggling was heard. I was pushed by two children making me trip. I looked in front of me. Seeing an extended hand. I grabbed it, lifting myself up.
I looked up realized it was a young girl who helped me. Her eyes blue as ocean water which matched with her dress. Hair as yellow as the sun. "Sorry about that." I broke my glance and shook my head repeatedly. "It's alright. I wasn't paying attention."
She laughed as she turned behind her. "Meet Abraham. He's my best friend. Well my only friend." Abraham looked at me and laughed nervously. I waved at him and turned to the blonde-haired girl. "Oh, my name is Maria Robotnik." I looked at her and told her. "Your grandfather told me to take care of you because of your illness. I am desperate to, since he saved my life, also since you've got a whole life ahead of you."
Maria grabbed me hand with care and nodded. "Thanks. I really appreci-." "Maria! Can we go check out your grandpa's lab! I wanna see what his next invention will be!" Abraham jumped up and down unstoppablly pulling Maria's hand towards a door.
"Please!" Maria laughed in joy and agreed. "Okay! But remember. Do not touch anything." I watched as they walked in the lab with worry. Something in that Abraham wasn't right. I didn't know if it was alright to tell Maria. I don't want her to think I'm over protective or ignorant. Most of all jealous.
I want her to know she wasn't alone and that her illness will be cured before she even knows it will be.
I continued walking around the space colony. Looking around every corner. I stopped once again finding I was face to face with a mirror. "What the hell happened to me!" I jumped back a few feet, surprised in my new look. "What the?! My fur is suppose to be navy blue! Not really black!" I looked at my wrist noticing I had a red stripe in each.
I rubbed my eyes again and again, hit my head in a table continuously, but nothing worked. "Well...it makes sense now why the doctor called me after something dark and edgy." I sat down and looked at the bottom of my shoes. "Amazing, gliding shoes. Always wished for these ever since I was five."
I stood up and felt a button inside my shoe. I clicked on the button with my toe and did a ear to ear grin. "So this is how you turn them on. Alright!" I glided upon the clank-sounding floor and woo-hooed and chuckled while I did.
I continued my experimenting around the lab accidently crashing into one of the doctor's scientists. I skidded across the floor and ran towards the person. "I'm sooo sor-" "No need to apologize, you were just trying out your new gear is all, accidents happen. Mostly when it comes to experimenting. Believe me, I've been through it many times. Just don't give up." "Are you sure you don't need help?" "No, it's alright." I looked at him, with worry then nodded slowly. "Okay, need help just call me."
I continued my gliding. "Ok, my next stop is to go check on Maria." I halted to a lab door. Opening it, first seeing Maria crying lonely in the dark room. I ran towards her and kneeled down to her eye level.
"Maria? What happened?" She hugged me tightly and whispered along with small sobbing. "My grandfather can't find a cure for my illness. I don't have enough time to li-" "Of course you do! You just need hope and trust for yourself." She looked into my eyes with fear in her eyes. "But, how. It's been years, since I had this illness and nothing has been discovered yet."
I looked at her with hope in my eyes. "Maria, if nobody finds that cure...then I will." "Ho-" "I made a promise and a deal to protect you, and I will. Believe me I will. That means if anybody hurts you or anything! They'll be sorry."
I was serious I wasn't joking and looking straight into her eyes I knew she knew as well that I wasn't a guy to joke around with. I never was. Even though my family was the opposite.
After my father passed away, when was 8 I decided to move on with life. Show my younger brothers and sisters the right path to success in victory.
Maria looked at me with shiny, blue eyes full of tears. "Thank you, Shadow." She hugged me tighter as I hugged back. "Don't worry, before you know it you'll be free."
She stood up and continued walking out of the closet towards the large window. "Actually, I was just nervous that my childhood wish would never come true."
I gave her a confused glare. "And what is that?"
"I want to go to the Planet of Life."
"Earth?"
"Yes."
"You mean you never been out of this place before?"
"No it's always been my home. All that I can see is the amazing colors that planet contains. It's contagious for my heart. It's blinding."
I starred at the living planet for a moment with Maria. I moved my eyes to her, finding her look so fascinated with the moving sphere.
"How would you feel if I took you there?"
She looked at me surprised with smile rising slowly to her face.
"You mean..."
"Yes."
I nearly smiled and if you were those people who never seen that face expression on me. Consider it a miracle. Something in that young girl made my darkness inside me light up.
Boredom was a daily thing for me, but with Maria, my life's sun began to rise. She was my only friend and my hope to never give up.
