With most of the pack still protecting Dad and the kids in the Homeland, our action choices are extremely limited. I don't know what we're going to do. We can't call the Omegas back until the coronation and that can't take place until Grandfather passes.

It's not that I wish the old man dead , but he's been on death's doorstep for a year. Dad himself said he's getting worse and worse as the days pass, yet he continues to live.

"Jamie," Mike says, standing in the doorway of the study. I've spent the night here and I didn't intend on coming out until I've figured out a way to stop Mosea.

"What is it?" He steps in, shutting the door with his foot. He kneels beside me, his eyes glazing over, morphing into the reptilian ones.

"I didn't want to worry Killian, but I've lost contact with sector five." Sector five? Those are the wolves we sent out to guard the beacon until we figured out how to contain it.

"How long ago?"

"Two days, Luna," He responds, "Obi has completely vanished from the link. I don't want to be a pessimist, but I'm fearing the worst."

I hop from the desk chair, my inner cheek caught between my teeth. I leave the study, Mike's footsteps directly behind me.

I go to my bedroom, thankful that Killian isn't here. I grab my arsenal from the corner and turn to face Mike.

"We're going to the beacon. We have to see what happened to them." Mike hesitates before he speaks again.

"We're going to have to go on foot. Just in case there is something wrong, we don't draw premature attention." I nod.

"Let's go, Mike."

We set out to the beacon. Mike up in the trees, still in human form and I on the ground.

Whatever happened, I pray we aren't too late to save them.

Mike lands on the ground beside me, now in his beast form. He prowls on the dirt, sniffing around. Hoping to catch a scent.

"Nothing," He says. "What if they aren't here anymore?"

"They have to be here, Mike. Where else could they be?" I run my fingers through my hair. "Go up and see if you can find anything." He scurries to the tree tops and scans the area.

What if he's right and they aren't here anymore?

"Jamie, you might want to see this," He calls from the canopy. I climb fairly quickly.

"What?" Before he can respond, I turn my head and see just what he meant.

Beyond us erects a partially complete pyramid like structure, built from a material like concrete in it's appearance, but pulsing with magic I couldn't fathom. It seeped with darkness, plaguing everything around. It's power doesn't fully encase us, but it's close enough. It mimics the surge of power I felt when I encountered Mosea, but here it's even stronger. Almost paralyzing.

"What is she building?"

"I don't know, Mike," I say, my eyes still enchanted and disgusted by what I'm seeing. "We need to leave."

We begin to climb down the tree, Mike getting to the ground before me. I jump down beside and dust off my pants.

"Look out!"

The warning came too late and a blast of pure energy hits, sending us into different directions.

With blurred vision, I reach out for my bow, but a boot comes down on my hand. I scream out in pain, my eyes clenched tight.
