SCRIPT
Raya soundtrack is played. The scene opens to MEL and MIROL, each of them sitting on a chair right center stage. MEL is holding a small mirror in front of her face, a small purse on her lap. MIROL is slumping, an impatient look on his face, glancing at his watch repetitively. Raya soundtrack fades to the background. He abruptly stands up and starts pacing the stage, making disgruntled noises and incessantly checking his watch. MEL watches him with interest, holding a lipstick in her other hand now.
MEL: Where’s the fire, Mir?
MIROL: (flashes MEL an annoyed look) Mum is taking FOREVER to get ready!
MEL: There’s nothing new there. You know Bu takes hours to get ready, and that’s not even taking her frequent bathroom breaks into account.
MIROL: But Mel, the food! What if they run out of Fried Chicken? Or Ayam Masak Merah? Or Buttermilk Chicken? Or Ayam Kurma? Or Ayam Panggang? (Abruptly stops walking, stares at the audience at right downstage) What if they run out of Kari Ayam? (falls to the ground on his knees, his face gone white)
MEL: (shakes her head) You and your obsession with chicken.
NARRATOR: Speaking of food, do you want to hear a Tapak Kuda pick-up line?
