Bright fluorescent lights hung up along the poles that circulated the balcony. Sparkling midnight stars shined in the dark sky. The rain poured down, dampening his light brown hair. A young girl's laughter echoed in his ears. The concrete sizzled as the cold rain smacked the hot balcony flooring. His face shown pale against the moonlight.
A faded image of her appeared in his mind, smiling next to the ombre red sunset. The sun glared upon the sparkling blue sea. Her dark chocolate brown hair covered part of her face but her bubbly brown eyes shone in the shadow of her face.
He could remember the time when his hand still entangled in hers. As his hand brushed her soft hair from her face, she giggled as she tilted her chin up. Her eyes stared into him longingly. As they gazed into each others' eyes, they slowly began to come closer to each others' lips until their noses touched. His heart beat wildly, but he had no care for the girl he had always loved was right in front of his eyes. Lips, touched, slowly but soft. Her lips tasted like cherry lip balm. Breathing through his nose, he smelled a campfire and deep woods. Although the kiss may have seemed long, it had been short and pure.
After their lips broke from each others', they both stared longingly into each others' eyes. "I love you, forever and always nothing can part us", she whispered. His vision faded back into reality. He could no longer smell her campfire smell, entangle his fingers into hers, or taste her cherry lips. Her hair no longer covered her face, shadowing half of her beauty. She lay upon the firm plain bed in a hospital gown. Her eyes no longer shone with bright enthusiasm. Her usual short dark chocolate brown hair vanished. The heartbeat monitor began to beat slower. He held her hand and lay his head down next to hers. Tubes covered almost her entire body.
He felt a little movement and lazily opened his eyes to find hers locked to his own. Tears fell from her eyes and her hands violently shook as she spoke to him, "I love you, forever and always nothing-" Her hands fell to her sides as a long beep echoed in the background. Nurses and doctors swarmed her body even though there was no use anymore.
The warm breeze woke him up from his dark daydream of memories. Tears streamed down his face. He took a step and felt the gravity weigh him down. His hair crazily whipped in his face. Feeling soft cold skin, he grasped onto it. Then pulled the figure closer towards him. He smelled a campfire. That smell that he missed so much. Her soft dark brown hair waved in the wind. Her kind eyes shone brightly. He could actually hear her voice as she calmly spoke to him, "See? I told you I love you, forever. Nothing will ever part us." His hands moved as he spoke,"I love you too." Golden flakes encased their bodies as they floated back up.
'"Let's go back now", she urged him. He moved his hands and said,
"Anywhere with you."
