~a few weeks later~

"Well folks there we have it the next two love birds of the month" Matt narrates as Ash and Maddie walk up to us holding hands. We're currently out at lunch together, but since the last time you were updated everything was good. I'm still currently living with Matt, my mom hasn't even made an effort to call me or anything.. but maybe it's for the best. I've started doing online business school over the summer. Matt has been going to the gym, because he starts police training soon. He's super excited, soon when school starts back up again I'll be going to intern at a law firm half time. I've always dreamed of being a lawyer like my grandmother.. I've heard stories that she was the greatest lawyer in town. She won every case, I hope to be like her.. Anyways. Ash and Maddie really hit it off that night they left the beach. They've gone on three real dates so far and I can completely tell that Ash has major feelings for her. Other than that life has been pretty normal.. on weekdays I'm either studying with Matt or at Morgan's or Kristas. Sophia went away from summer to her dads in Yellow Springs. She sends me pictures all the time of the parades and fairs going on. I'm gonna go visit her soon, we've already planned it. We've heard minimal from Trav, since he left last Wednesday for England for two weeks to see his family. He usually sends a text or two ever few days and just tells us how it's going and what England's like. I've always wanted to go.. he said next winter we're all taking a trip there.

"HELLLLOOOOO?! EARTH TO HARLEY !" Maddie screams in the middle of the restaurant. "What? Jeez I'm sorry I did it again" I replied back while facepalming. "Jeeez girl what is going through that imaginative head of yours?" She said to me giving me a stern look. "Ah nothing. Just thinking about my upcoming exam." I replied quickly. Matt leans over puts his arm around my waist and reassured me that I'll do great. I give him a quick kiss on the cheek and finish up my meal.

After lunch we all took a small walk on the boardwalk by the ocean. It used to be my favorite spot to come with Matt when we were in around 5th grade.. and you've made it this far, so I feel as if you deserve the whole truth about me and Matt..

~flashback~

Matt and I have grown up our whole lives being neighbors. Mrs. O'neil  and my mother we're best friends throughout high school and they also were neighbors when they were younger. So once they grew up and became adults they decided to stay neighbors. My mother didn't have many other people.. my grandmother died from cancer at the age of 76, and my grandfather moved away. So when my mom had me coincidently the O'Neil's also had a kid.. a boy. Me and Matt met around the age for preschoolers. We were immediately best friends.. I remember in third grade this older boy was picking on me for not having a dad.. Matt being a tad bit older and way bigger than most kids in our grade stuck up for me.. even if that meant he got suspended for hitting.. however around 8th grade I noticed a change in the way I look at Matt.. he didn't look like a brother to me.. but a best friend with potential of something more.. So as I usually did I walked over to his house and knocked on the door.. his mother answered and I asked to see Matt, she opened the door and sitting on their living room couches was the devil herself Marissa. "Get out of here loser!" Marissa busses at me as I took a spot on the couch. I ignored her like I normally did. "Babe !!! The trash is here !!!" Marissa yelled.. and then I thought about what she just said .. not the trash part. Babe? Babe? Babe. She just called Matt.. my potential boyfriend babe. I guess I was wrong.. I guess I was the only one who saw potential in a us.. So while hiding my tears I walk up get to the door and wait for Matt outside. Matt walks out, his brown hair messy as if he just made out with someone.. ah okay I get it now.. "I have nothing to say to you.." I whisper to him. "Yea well Harley you have to grow up!!" He screamed back at me. Hot tears were already falling down my face. And on that same day I promised I would never love again..

Well.. that's it. I promised myself to not love again.. however looking into it I broke that promise and I tend to keep it broken for the time being..
