Eternity Key- Chapter 7- The promise

Chapter 7:

   ... Mersnake Kingdom, the main gate...

Incoming the main gate of the Mersnake kingdom are the Mersnake Elite Army together with the regiments of the Lamia Kingdom, the Lamia King: Nirvin, and his three sons: Ash, the eldest, Nishil, the third child and Hal, the youngest. “So, you came with us to save your girlfriend?” Nishil laughed. Nishil is probably the most popular son of Nirvin, he is said to be the most handsome and third strongest of the siblings. He has fiery red hair, scarlet eyes and his fangs shows a little when his mouth is close, he always wears tuxedo and always carries his sword with him. Ash, on the other hand, has long straight snow-white hair, blue eyes and has no fang at all. Ash is the second strongest of the siblings and the top if it comes to strategy and analytical works. He is always calm and his weapon is his brain, he seldom speaks with others but is in good terms with his brothers and sisters. “She’s not my girlfriend.” Hal demanded “ahaha. My cute little brother is finally growing up.” Nishil teased “stop that already, Nishil. Brother Ash, tell him to stop it.” Hal said, hiding at Ash’s back, Ash looked silently at Nishil then Nishil backed away. They respect Ash, not because he is the eldest, but because he respects them too and have never scolded them or hit them. Well, for Hal, he never wanted to address Nishil as big brother because he is as child-like as he thinks he is. “Nishil, come here.” Nirvin suddenly ordered then Nishil quickly went to his father “what is it, father?” Nishil asked “as soon as you found that little girl, take Ash, Hal and the little friend of him away from the Mersnake Kingdom and the Lamia Kingdom.” Nirvin seriously said “Father? What are you... talking about?” Nishil asked nervously “do not worry, Nishil. You’ll have to take Aillaria, Nelliana and your mother as well. Take them all away from here and from our home.” Nirvin smiled, but Nishil noticed that his father’s eyes are mourning “father... You’re not... coming with us?” Nishil said hesitantly “I have some things to settle with Nivillian. Don’t worry, I’ll go look for all of you as soon as I finish my job here.” Nirvin replied, smiling at his son “okay... But, you have to promise me one thing.” Nishil said “what is it?” Nirvin asked “come back alive and well.” Nishil said seriously as he looked up to Nirvin. Nirvin smiled happily and laughed. “What’s funny?” Nishil asked, irritated “nothing, I just thought: my third child is still a little boy.” Nirvin replied, still laughing “oh, come on! I’m not a little boy anymore.” Nishil said then Nirvin patted his head repeatedly “no, Nishil, you are still a little boy. You don’t need to hurry up and grow, enjoy your life more as a youngster. Now, return to your brothers and don’t tell them about the thing we have talked about.” Nirvin carefully whispered his last sentence to not be heard by his other two sons at the other side of the ship.

   ... Mersnake Kingdom, the central village...

Nickameledien, Vincent and the hordes of walking dead Sneres continued to march towards the main gate where the Lamia and the Mersnake Elite Armies are closing in. “brother, where are you planning to take all these Sneres?” Nickameledien asked “I’m going to group them in 20 and scatter them all around the world to find the 20 Sirens that father locked.” Vincent replied “20 sirens? Who are those?” Nickameledien curiously asked “those 20 sirens are protectors of Dealacrima. They are not supposed to be scattered and locked. Once they reunite, they can at least stop Dealacrima from dissolving.” Vincent replied “what about you, brother? Will you stay with me?” Nickameledien said, Vincent paused, Nickameledien already knew her brother’s reply so she didn’t bother to ask again and she doesn’t even want to hear it. “Hal and his family are so kind towards me. I like them, do you too, brother?” Nickameledien asked, changing the topic, Vincent smiled and replied “yes. I like the way they treat my little sister.” Nickameledien smiled for a short period then sadness covered her face once again “Can’t you just stay with us?” Nickameledien asked “I can’t and I’m sorry about that. I won’t stay long in this world as a spirit; I need to find a suitable body. Once I gain a living body, I’m afraid all of my memories will be lost for a year or more. I won’t be able to find you quickly, so promise me that you’ll recognize me no matter what form I take. Can you keep that promise?” Vincent said, hugging his little sister tightly, Nickameledien could not feel any warmth, she could feel her tears flowing through her cheeks “I promise...” she said with a soft voice, she hears her voice trembled while she speaks. “They’ll be here soon.” Vincent said, letting go of his sister then the walking dead Sneres started to group themselves. Nickameledien felt lonely among the hordes of walking dead Sneres, she could no longer see her big brother. She turned her head left and right, looking for Vincent, but there was no sign of him, Nickameldien bowed her head, closed her eyes and said “he’s gone.” Suddenly, she felt a warm hand touched her shoulders, as she opened her eyes, Hal was standing beside her. “So, here you are? Did something happen, did the Mersnake King harmed you again?” Hal said, comforting Nickameledien. She didn’t pay attention to what Hal is saying; she focused her attention towards the two grown-ups behind Hal. “Ugh! This really stinks.” Nishil said, covering his nose so that he wouldn’t smell the rotten bodies of the Sneres circling them “anyway, isn’t this a very bad idea? Making the dead Sneres as his army?” Nishil continued “Hal, let’s go back to the ship, now.” Ash said then Nishil flinched, remembering his father’s words “no, we’re not going back. We’ll take another route out of Mersnake Kingdom.” He asserted “what are you talking about, Nishil?” Hal asked “we need to go back. Father must be waiting for us.”  Ash said “no... You don’t understand, I’ll explain the details as soon as we escape from here. Little miss, do you know another passage way to get outside the Mersnake Kingdom safely and undetected?” Nishil said “what is this about, Nishil?” Ash asked curiously “I told you, I’ll explain as soon as we get out.” Nishil said as he walked towards Nickameledien “Please, tell us the safest way out that you know.” Nishil said, Nickameledien saw the pain and sorrow in his eyes as he pleaded and she thought that something or someone must have driven him to do this. “I’ll show you, follow me.” Nickameledien finally replied “really? Thank you.” Nishil said, satisfied “Nicka, we need to get to father first, don’t just listen to Nishil.” Hal said “I know his reason. You should have known, too.” Nickameledien said then she started to walk but the Sneres followed her so she immediately stopped “we can’t go on with all these Sneres. What’s with your brother anyway?” Nishil said “You know my brother?” Nickameledien asked surprised to what Nishil have said “yes, he told us where to find you and that we don’t have to worry about the Snere. He also told us that the Sneres are dead and will obey anything that you and your brother say.” Nishil replied “if they obey you, then tell them to depart from us already.” Nishil continued, Nickameledien took a deep breath and said “go... Find them and let them reunite.” Nickameledien said then the walking dead Sneres swiftly scattered with their appropriate groups “whoa! That was... fast.” Nishil said “let’s go, we don’t have much time. The passage will soon close.” Nickameledien said then she ran then Hal, Ash and Nishil followed her “Little miss, what kind of passage way is that? Why will it close?” Nishil asked “It’s a passage way my mother created two years ago. It will close every sunset and will disappear and once again appear in the morning on another place.” Nickameledien said “then, how will you know where it is?” Nishil said “I memorized its pathway. By now, it should be at the lake.” Nickameledien replied.
