Lily lay exhausted on the small bed at St. Mungo's. She had just given birth to her first child, a beautiful and healthy baby boy, named Harry. James stand next to Lily, cradling the hour old baby in his arms. "Look at him, Lily-Pad. He's got your eyes." he whispered in her left ear. She weakly smiled, using what little strength she had left. "He's got your hair." she lightly laughed, followed by a weak coughing fit. James felt terrible for his poor wife. He wished he could take all the pain away from her and give it to himself. But he knew he had to keep Lily and himself strong, for their Harry.

"Did you tell Sirius and Lupin yet"

"No, not yet. I've been to busy establishing the fact that we've a son now." he smiled.

"Well hurry up and go tell them!" she laughed before breaking into another coughing fit.

He looked at her concerned. "Are you ok? You seem to be coughing a lot. Is it hard for you to breathe?" he sat down at the foot of the bed, taking her hand in his, with Harry still in one arm.

"I'm fine. I'm fine." she waved him away. "Now go tell them or they'll have your head! You promised you'd send them an owl after Harry was born!"

He chuckled at her. "Alright, alright. I would just like to make sure my wife is as healthy as my baby boy. I'd rather my mates have my head than my wife sick." he pulled out a peice of parchment and a quill from his back pocket and began to write a simple letter to Renus and Sirius. He tied it to one of the owls at the hospital.

Lily smiled as Harry shifted in her arms. She kissed his forehead. "I... I was wondering..... If something were to.... to happen to us, who will take care of Harry?" Lily looked up at James.

"Well Sirius, of course." James let out a slight chuckle. "But nothing will be happening to us. Why do you ask?" he looked at her.

"I... I just want to be prepared for the worst, you know?" Lily sighed, then smiled. "Sirius. As a Godfather. Oh I feel sorry for Harry already!"

He laughed. "Oh c'mon, Lils. Give Padfoot a chance. He's a pretty serious guy." he winked and laughed at his own pun.

She rolled her eyes but broke into a huge grin. But it faded. "Have you heard from Wormtail recently?"

He shook his head. "Peiple say he died, others say he became a death eater. I just feel he disappeared all together. The other Marauders go with my therory." he sighed.

"Oh, Wormtail." Lily whispered to herself. "Where have you gone?" She turned to James. "Do you think he would've liked Harry?"

"It's hard to tell. I need to know if Sirius likes him. Peter usually liked everything Sirius did. Until it came to girls, drugs, alcohol, smoking, and partying." he chuckled, ready for a cigarette himself.

"You're not thinking of smoking, are you?" Lily gave him a death glare. She had been trying to get him to quit for weeks. "You know it's not good for the baby."

"I'd like one cigarette, love. It's a little bit stressful watching your wife in pain for so many hours."

Lily glared at him for a bit, but her expression eventually softened. "Alright..... But only this once, and you have to SWEAR you'll quit."

He held up three fingers to his chest. "I solemnly swear that I an up to no good," he chuckled, "And that I will stop smoking for the sake of my dearest Lily and our newborn baby." he smiled and looked at her. "I'll be right back." he ran out of the hospital and pulled out a cigarette.

"Hurry back." She whispered and kissed Harry's forehead

James called Sirius. "Come quick, mate. I want you to see Harry. And smoke with me. Last time Lily's going to let me." he sighed.

Lily looked out the hospital window and watched James and Sirius chat

The smoke puffed out of James's mouth. "It was torture to watch Lily go through that much pain. I'm glad she's ok though." he half smiled.

Lily started humming a soft lullaby as she rocked Harry back and forth in her arms

"Wow, mate." Sirius inhaled his cigarette. "I'm sorry. At least now the both of you have something to smile about. Especially in the middle of a war."

Harry started to cry. Lily quickly started shushing him and rocking him more

James flicked the butt of his cigarette off of his finger and sighed. "Well, want to go inside and see my boy?" he asked his best friend.

Lily looked up as there was a soft knock on her door. "Come in!" she called

James smiled as he opened the door for him and Sirius. "How are you feeling, love?" he said sitting next to her.

"Much better." She smiled as James kissed her. "Hullo, Sirius! How are you doing?"

"Hi there, Lily." he smiled. "I'm just fine, and you?"

"Lovely after this little bundle of joy came out." Lily grinned as she held Harry up for Sirius to see. "Where's Lupin?"

He smiled. "Leaky Coldron." he chuckled. "He found himself lost in a book and a few too many Butterbeers."

"Oh, Lupin." Lily shook her head and chuckled. "Would you like to hold your new godson?"

"Godson?" he turned to James, then looked back at Lily. "I'm the godfather?"

"Sadly." Lily grinned.

He smirked and took Harry from Lily. "You're going to be a wicked kid."
