Painful images tore through my mind. I saw the fire, Byron's sweet, chubby face. Tears rolled down my face as I saw Byron transform. His teeth grew long and jagged, his adorable baby face twisting into a hideous snarl. The eyes that reminded me so much if my own became red and haunted. I began to run, only to be confronted by Zach. He was holding his swim medal up, a triumphant smile in his face. He placed the cool metal in my hand and leaned in for a kiss. Right before his lips met mine, he was yanked away. I screamed out for him and began running. I heard his voice call out to me for help, I saw him on a large board. His arms and legs spread out and shackled. I ran to him, tracing the gashes down the sides of his face and brushing his dark hair out of his eyes. He stared up at me, grey eyes glazed over. My eyes wandered down to his stomach, where there was a large dagger planted. I shrieked and wrapped my hands around it. Zach placed a large hand over mine and gently shook his head. I pressed my forehead against his, and leaned in for our last kiss. Our lips met and heat surged through my veins. I pulled away gently and saw that the light from his eyes had already died. He had a peaceful grin on his lips as I reached a hand up to close his eyes. I leaned in and kissed his forehead, tasting the mixture of sweat, dirt, and blood. My world swirled into darkness as I slowly woke up. I fluttered my eyes open, I was in the Jeep. I looked around and began to blush slightly as I saw that I was curled into Griffin. His head was resting on top of mine and his beanie was falling off of his jet black hair. Remembering Zach, I slowly pushed him off of me. I stretched and yawned, looking around. It was dark outside, Skye was snoring in the front seat. Phoenix's green eyes flicked up to the rear view mirror and he grinned. "Rise and shine, Sleeping Beauty!" I rolled my eyes, but involuntarily smiled. "Where are we going?" I asked.
"There's a motel just up the road, speaking of can you wake the princes up?" Phoenix asked sarcastically. I placed a hand on Griffin shoulder and shook him gently. He woke with a start, head swinging around in confusion. his icy blue eyes fixated on mine and he grinned, sending shiver down my spine. "Hey" he said in that grumbly just-woken up voice. "Hi" I said softly. I stared into his blue eyes and he into mine. I coughed and awkwardly looked away. I leaned forward, gently shaking Skye. He continued sleeping. I looked over at Griffin in exasperation. He winked, "Gotcha" he said. He leaned in real close to Skye's ear, then let out the most bloodcurdling scream you can think of. Skye shot awake, letting out an alarmed gasp. His arms and legs flailed around for a bit before he realized what had just happened. He turned around to face Griffin with a playful scowl on his face. "Heyyyyy" he said, mocking anger. Griffin grinned and shrugged his shoulders like a five year old. The shrill sound of a ringing phone filled the car. Skye looked down and rolled his eyes. He pressed the answer button and mouthed "Mom" to Griffin. "Hi mom" Skye said "Uh-no mom, I swear we aren't on a hunt." He have Griffin a look of guilt. "Ok, yeah, I know! I'm sorry!! Ok fine we are on our way" he hung up the phone with a sigh. "We have to go home." Phoenix and Griffin shot him alarmed looks. "Whyyy!" Phoenix whined. Skye rolled his eyes. "My mom says if we're going to hunt we have to bring Shane and Xavier." I looked to Griffin for an explanation, but he just looked at Skye. "Why, Shane is only 6! Does she have any concern for his safety?" Griffin exclaimed. Skye massaged his temples and sighed. "Grif, please-" He began, but Griffin was mad. He held a hand up. "Oh no, don't you 'Grif, please' me! I'm so done with you guys, with all of your secretive looks and always acting like I'm inferior. I'm just done!" He swung open the car door and stomped into the woods. Phoenix and Skye looked back at me. "What?" I asked. The tilted their heads towards the spit where Griffin once stood and I got the message. With a sigh, I got out of the car. The air was chilly, and I could to find Griffin anywhere. I looked at my surroundings, trees, trees, and more trees. I suddenly felt strong hands wrap around me. Whipping around, I raised my guard. I was met with an intense gaze by the iciest pair of blue eyes. Griffin blushed and dropped his hands to his sides. He shoving his hands into his pockets and began walking. I followed after, shivering. We came upon a rock that sat over a gushing river. He plopped himself on the rock, slightly swaying his feet over the edge. I say down next to him, tripping slightly which made me lean gently into his shoulder. He puts his hands around my shoulders to catch me and to warm me up. I closed my eyes, listening to the comforting swell of the river below. I opened my eyes and turned around to see Griffin watching me intently. Our faces were extremely close and he began to lean in. Our lips met and there was an instant spark. His hand went to cup my cheek and I ran my hands through his dark hair. We broke apart, breathing heavily. "Echem." We heard from behind us.
