Soul Soccer

Chapter 1

"C'mon Howard." Coach Pia yelled.

"Shoot with your right!"

I sighed, it's wasn't that easy. I was left footed.

"Got it coach." I replied with a nod.

"She's really going hard on you isn't she?" Ashlyn asked me.

"Yeah, she thinks I can shoot like Brandi or something." I said with a laugh.

Ashlyn laughed and passed a ball to me.

"Alright everyone, Positions!" Pia yelled.

We all ran to our positions and started the scrimmage.

Sydney passed to me and I chipped it back to Carli. I sprinted to the other end of the field and received and long ball from Christie, I shot the ball with my right foot sending it to the back of the net.

"Finally!" I muttered as I ran to high-five Christie.

"Great job Kaylen!" Pia said with her Swedish accent and a smile.

"Thanks Coach." I told her grinning.

"Good job Kay." A familiar voice said.

Ashlyn and Brisa looked as shocked as I felt.

"Mom?" I said turning around slowly.

"Hey babe!" she giggled.

I ran to hug her. She never picked me up from soccer practice.

"What are you doing here?" I asked with excitement.

"Khloè was with French so I decided to pick you up." she explained still smiling.

I nodded in agreement as I traded my cleats for my slides. I slung my soccer bag over my shoulder and started walking towards the car.

I plugged in my Beats by Dre into my iPhone and zoned out.

Mom nudged me with her elbow and raised her eyebrows. I took off my headphones and turned my attention to her.

"I'm sorry what?" I asked her.

"I was asking if you wanted to get Chinese take-out?" she told me tapping her fingers on the steering wheel.

"Of course!" I exclaimed excitedly.

She laughed and drove to the Chinese restaurant.

We ordered and drove to pick up my sister Alex from the soccer field where she was doing an interview for the US Women's National Soccer Team.

"Hey Alex" I greeted.

"Hey KK" she answered getting in the car.

"How was the interview?" I asked.

"It was great, but there were some things that I can't tell you." she told me with a smirk.

"Aleexx!! Tell Me!!!" I begged laughing at the sound of my voice.

"Nope" she said popping the 'p' and laughing.
