Heronfur looked over the pawful of rebel cats that remained, disgusted. He looked up at the sky, searching for Silverpelt but the sky was overcast and their ancestors did not show their blazing form. They are ashamed that they allowed us to lose he thought. Hatred burned in him, numbing the pain of his wounds. He felt a soft pelt brush up against his own and looked down into the blazing amber eyes of his lover. The sleek black she cat laid a pure black rose at his paws. It signified death, and ones passing onto Starclan.
“We’ll make Dogstar pay for the death of Sorrelpaw,” Blackmoth promised. He winced at the mention of his apprentices name.
“She was so young,” he growled, sinking his claws into the ground.
“I know,” Blackmoth whispered, stroking his back with her tail, “I know.” Her voice was like honey, soothing his entire being. He looked down at the rose, black like the sky void of stars.
“Heronfur!” a snarl drew his attention to a young brown tabby tom.
“What is it Treepelt?” he sighed.
“What happened?” Treepelt hissed, “you promised, you said that Starclan would guide us but I don’t see any sign of Silverpelt.”
“Treepelt, calm down,” Gingertail padded up to him. Her once white and tortis-shell fur now red with blood and torn beyond recognition, even her voice sounded ragged, and she was consumed by a brief but horrifying cough for a few second before attempting to brush the fur of her mate down to normal with her tongue.
“No, I betrayed my clan and my leader all because he told me that it was Starclan’s wish,” Treepelt spat, glarding at Heronfur with such ferocity that Heronfur felt nhis pelt catch on fire.
“It was,” Heronfur snapped, fur bristling.
“Then why did we lose?” Treepelt flashed back.
“You expect Starclan to do everything?” Blackmoth retorted. Treepelt turned his burning gaze on her.
“I expected them to guide me, but never have I felt more separated from them. He lead us here, Heronfur got Mistclaw and Nightberry killed,” Treepelt cried. Murmurs rippled through the cats and murmurs turned into howls of agreement. Heronfur looked up for guidance but Starclan remained hidden. No, I have left their watch, it is I that am in the wrong he thought.
“You dare question the medicine cat,” Blackmoth snarled.
“It’s no secret that Heronfur has hated Dogstar since they were kits, he was using Starclan’s name to trick us,” Iceshell snarled. Anger burned through him. He locked his gaze with her own, unsheathing her claws. Cats began to howl with agreement. The anger buildt up ion him like a wave. His fur stood on end and he felt consumed by hatred for the cold hearted warrior. The anger fueled him, every muscle becoming it’s own lethal being. He may have been a medicine cat but Starclan was with him.
He lunged wildly for Iceshell, claws outstretched, hungering to sink into her throat and tear it out. Cats leapts out of the way as he crashed into the bloodied warrior. Iceshell had been ready for him, balancing perfectly on her hind legs the two cats rolled backwards, clawing each other upon impact. He jumped away from her, climbing to his feet after her talon sharp claws ripped several marks into his once grey fur. He shook his head, and looked up at her viciously.
“That is not true, how dare you accuse me of such things,” Iceshell spat.
“Get him Iceshell,” Treepelt yowled. Blackmoth turned on the young warrior, slamming into his side as she bit into his pelt. Treepelt yowled in surprise as he helplessly tried to fend off the attacker. Gingertail leapt to her mate’s defense, but she was only thrown aside by a back kick from Blackmoth.
