"Stella, get out of your bed!" I heard my brother yell. I slightly opened one of my eyes, to see him wearing a blue t shirt with his regular jeans at the door. I turned my back towards him, mumbling, "let me sleep for a while"

My eyes opened wide. Wait what? What was Steve doing here? Shouldn't he be at New York, studying criminal investigation? I sat up on my bed. "When did you come here?"
He sat on the edge of my bed.
"Last night" he smiled, "now get your ass out of your bed, dad has some news for you."

"Okay, I will be downstairs in a while" I yawned getting up and stretching as my brother left the door closed, not before saying, "don't sleep again" I chuckled. I got all freshened up, combed my hair for a good minute. Yeah it only takes a minute because my hair is short. I puy my nerdy spectacles on my nose and head downstairs, where dad was making pancakes. Aaah I love pancakes, especially those which are made by my old favourite man. Seeing him in the morning honestly made me feel better, he'd always be in his office or the library writing and working on his next book. An author's life is tough. But I was ready to face it. I was taking literature and writing as a career, I had finished school last month, and already sent all information necessary to various universities.

"Hey" I heard a voice, and I saw a brown haired girl in front of me, Natalie. She was in a blue dress which ended just above her knees. "It's been so long!" She engulfed me in a hug which I gave her back gladly. "Yes! I know I missed you so much, Nat!" We pulled away from each other as her boyfriend grabbed her by her waist, "Stop it, I never knew me leaving Cleveland, will make Stella this girly."

"Shut up Steve, I am not being girly, it's just that Nat means a lot to me." It's true. Nat had always been there for me, more than my other friends at school. She always seemed to understand and listen to my breakdowns all the time. She's a  really nice person. I liked her when I first met her, which was obviously when my brother brought her home for the first time when he needed 'help' in homework. She didn't judge me just because I am not really girly. I have known her since like 5 years, because guess what my brother is head over heels for her since they were in Heywood High, the same hell I went to for so many years.

"How's forensic science?" I ask her.
"It's good, but I still need to get used to dead bodies laying around." She smiled and I smiled at her, when my dad brought the pancakes to our table. He sat himself on the chair, which had been vacant till now.

"So, dad what's the news?"
He sighed really long.
"First, the good news is that you have got admission in University of California, LA and you need to move there this Saturday." I cupped my face with my hands because I was genuinely happy, because LA means a big city and it would be really interesting to live there and out of this boring town of Ohio. But,
"What's the bad news dad?" I asked him.

He shrugged, "We are leaving this place, this town, I am considering what Steve has been saying from a while now. I am going to move in with him and my future daughter-in-law" he said with a small smile. Natalie smiled back at him.

"But what about this house? And the library?" I asked him frantically. Sure this town was boring but I spent my childhood here in this house, where me and Steve used to play around and spend so much of time with each other. I remember him having his first kiss with Natalie on the backyard bench after he manned up and asked her out. I had helped him prepare a speech though I am 2 years younger than him. I was making him ready for all consequences. But of course, Nat agreed to date him.

"The house and the library will be taken care of, we are going to sell this house and buy an apartment in NYC, and we have to find an owner for our library." My brother calmly replied.

"Oh wait? You guys are getting married? How come no one told me that?" I said in a dramatic tone.
"Well, we are telling you now." Steve said, his hand behind his neck. Natalie looked flustered like a tomato.

"18th September we are getting married" My brother said running his hands through his black, curly hair which he got from dad by the way, and I mumbled a wow. It's still March. They were my otp since high school. The fact that my brother was going to marry his high school crush amazed me. Steve was a jock in school, he used to play basketball and he was pretty famous, because of his looks. He has this tanned body with abs which girls died for. He wasn't a badboy though. He used to stay away from most of the girls drooling over him because he loved Natalie since the very beginning of school. Natalie was always on top in school, because of her grades and looks. She was that beauty+brains combo pack.

No one would have believed that me and Steve were siblings if it wasn't for our same tanned complexion, and black hair and eyes, because I was completely opposite of him. I was a nerd, slightly overweight and not at all social.

"When did you cut your hair?" Steve broke my train of thoughts.
"Last week" I said as I took another bite of my pancake
"Why? It looked better when it was long" he said, chewing his own pancake.
"I wanted change and moreover this suits my boyish nature more."
Natalie hit him on his arm, "Yeah, it suits her better" she said. Oh, just how well she understood me.
"Let's go shopping today" she said looking at me with a glee.
Okay I take that back.
