I laughed along with Dylan, unable to wipe the smile off my face. I swear, this whole evening I just can't stop smiling, and it's all Dylan's fault.

"You are such an idiot" I giggled, covering my hand over my mouth.

"Well, you're a one to talk" He sassed back, winking slightly. I let out another giggle and glanced slightly to the right, where Clarence was waggling her eyebrows slightly at me.

Sure, I felt a little weird when I first blurted out that Jason was my step-brother and all that, but I felt a little.... lighter. As if some weight had been taken off my shoulders since my so-called dad's departure.

"Oh hell woman, don't look at me like that" I muttered, throwing her a mock glare, but she had already turned around and was talking to the other boys.

Of course.

"Hey, so Kat," Dylan started, coughing slightly as a light pink blush spread across his cheeks. I turned my attention back to him, raising an eyebrow.

"A nervous Dylan? Well, something's fishy here" I said cheekily, earning a roll of eyes from him.

"You're making this really hard for me" He sighed, pretending to look pissed at me.

"Sorry, do go on" I gestured, titling my head slightly, curious to hear what he would say.

"Wouldyougoonadatewithmesometime?" He rushed, the pinkness rushing to his cheeks.

"Do I look like Google Translate to you? No, I do not, so please translate what you just said...in English" I retorted, grinning.

"I said," He started, taking a deep breath "Would you go on a date with me sometime?"

Ew. Boys.

I'm kidding.

"Let me think about it for a moment..." I tapped my chin thoughtfully, even though my stomach my fluttering with the cliché butterflies...no, forget it, I didn't feel butterflies. I felt the entire zoo. Wait, but do elephants flutter?

"No" I answered simply, putting on my utter most serious expression.

He looked taken back for a moment as something flashed in his eyes. Hurt? "Kidding, yes! I'd love to." I laughed, punching his arm lightly.

"Katie, why would you do that to me?" He whined, though you could hear the obvious relief in his voice.

"Why wouldn't I?" I answered, and he nodded thoughtfully.

"Ah. Point taken"

A familiar song blasted on the stereo and I squealed, grabbing his hands, shyness forgotten. See, this is what happens when you hang out with someone you fancy, you forget about yourself for a moment. You lose yourself in them.

"Hey, guys! Okay so tonight we are going to sing Break free," Clarence yelled into the microphone, looking totally hyped up with the rest of the boys as the crowd cheered enthusiastically "And then The Scientist for a bit of romance" She said, poking out her tongue mischievously as the music started.

Her powerful, yet sweet voice took over the stage and I cheered along with the crowd, shooting Dylan, who was playing the drums, an encouraging smile. I scanned my eyes over the crowd, beaming at the happy and pumped up crowd. What Adam was so worried about, I'm not so sure.

Until I saw him.

"Jason" The name slipped out of my mouth like a bad taste. It was bad enough that he was here, but the fact that he was making out with some girl that clearly wasn't Clarence, just made it worse.
