I was so warm. My face pressed against something incredibly smooth and comfortable. The perfect pillow, I thought to myself. I was bundled up under the covers with my body intertwined with.....
Gerard.
I gasped softly, remembering the events of yesterday and this morning. My cheek was pressed against his chest, his arms wrapped lazily around my waist, his head tucked down so his lips were touching my hair. I squirmed a little, this all feeling way too intimate. Gerard huffed and squeezed me tighter in his sleep. I poked his ribs and he shot awake, looking frazzled.
"Woah! Fuck." He groaned. His body shuttered as he moved away from me. He gripped the blankets before jumping out of the bed and sprinting to the bathroom. He was in there for a few minutes before emerging fully dressed and staring at me, his cheeks flushed red and his breathing uneven. "Jo."
"Yes."
"Hi."
"Hi?"
It was quiet for a moment. Gerard almost looked like he didn't remember what had happened yesterday. He stared at me and tilted his head. He went to speak when there was a sudden knock on the door. We both jumped. Gerard ran over to me and yanked me up, wrapping his arm around me and clasping his hand over my mouth. He grabbed the gun and my keys before slowly walking to the door and looking through the peephole.
"It's the police, open up." A voice said on the other side of the door.
"Listen to me, Joliet. You will leave the chain locked, you will crack open the door, you will tell those fuckin pigs that I'm at the ice machine on the other side of the office. You try to signal them and I'll fucking kill you. Got it?" He growled under his breath. Tears gathered in my eyes as I unlocked the door enough to just barely see the two uniformed police officers.
"He went to the ice machine. He just left." I sobbed.
Unfortunately, only one officer ran toward the office, the other stayed by the door.
"Ma'am, open up the door so we can get you out of here." He said.
Before I could respond, Gerard kicked it shut before yanking the chain off and swinging the door open again. In that brief few seconds, he wrapped his arm around my neck again and squeezed so tightly I thought I would pass out. He slammed the butt of his gun against the cop's nose before he could even pull his own weapon. With strength I had no idea he possessed, he lifted me off the ground and dragged me to my car.
He flung me hard into the passenger seat before shoving the keys in the ignition and peeling out of the motel parking lot. I was freezing, wearing only my bra and underwear and Gerard's shirt. No socks, no shoes. I sat, petrified, as Gerard pushed eighty down the highway. I couldn't help myself, I started to cry. And I mean really cry, sobbing. Gerard gripped the steering wheel tighter.
"Joli." He said softly, nearly sounding empathetic.
I continued my body wracking lament when I felt a hand on my leg. I let out a scream and began thrashing around. I was done with this. I was sick of cops, and being tossed around and having guns shoved in my face. I wanted to go home and have my normal boring life back.
I cried for the next fifteen minutes until Gerard pulled into the parking lot of an abandoned factory. Cool, this is where they'd find my body. Fantastic. Gerard grabbed my cheeks and made me look at him.
"Joli. Don't cry, please? I know this is a fucked up situation. I can't give you up just yet. They can't take me down if they know I've got you, ya know?"
