50 Years In The Future........

I pressed my body hard against the door, putting all my weight against it. It wouldn't take long before they finally broke through our barriers and barrelled through the thick iron doors of the Storage Warehouse. Blockades like these were like a house of cards to them, hard to put up, but easy to take down. It wouldn't be long now before those robotic bastards come for us, Whats left of the mutants, there one and only target. "Do we have everything? There almost here!" I yelled. "Almost! Just a little bit more time!" Came a voice from farther down the many shelves that resided inside the building. "We don't have more time! There practically here!" I replied, cursing as I felt a sudden jolt from the door, "Piotr, Give me a hand over here!!" I yelled as pushed harder, fighting the force of the mechanic monsters that lay on the other side. A set of muscular metal arms joined me in my battle to outlast the pressure from the other side and As I predicted, we were losing. "We've got it!" Came the voice again as four sets of arms accompanied us in our fight. I looked up at the top of the door, it was beginning to pull apart and the tips of thick metal fingertips were peering through the cracks. They had found another way in, they were distracting us! "GET OUT OF HERE!" I yelled to the others, as the door's rip increased in length and width. "What about you!?! I'm not leaving you here Claire!" Came the same voice as before. "You don't get a choice Bobby! I'm doing this for you, for all of us! Win this war for me, okay?" I looked down at the bronze band with the topaz stone that sat on my finger, and thought of the man who had given it to me, Who had proclaimed his love to me in the middle of battle, and I to him. How he had gotten it in the midst of all this chaos was unknown, but at that moment, I didn't care. If only the world was a better place, I wouldn't have to be making this choice. "And tell Logan I love him, and that I'll see him soon," I say, looking up at bobby and the rest of my team, I hope this will give them enough time to escape this madness. "Kitty! Get them out of here!!!" I yelled towards a young girl. Bobby stared at me, tears coming to his eyes as he reluctantly ran with the others towards the back of the warehouse. "Take care of them," I whispered to myself as I readied for the monstrosities on the other side to break through. "Come an' ave a go if you think you're tough enough you sons of bitches," I growled, my hands becoming fully engulfed in flames, already knowing how this battle would end. I charge towards the beasts, pain enveloping me in a instant but I keep moving forward, determined to stop these enemies from getting any closer to the others. I glance behind me, watching as the last of my team, my family, dashed through the portal, and the portal itself collapsing in on itself. They were safe, and thats all I needed to know before I let go of reality and felt my humanity, my life, and everything else just fall away, And the last thing I see before I die is my soul,

Falling...

Falling...

Falling...

Into eternal and utter

Darkness.

They stumbled out of the portal, slick with sweat and beet red. They were alive, but at the cost of someone's life. Someone close to each of them, a mentor, a friend, a teacher, a sister. A man sifted through the group, searching endlessly, not knowing that the one person that he was looking for wasn't there. He approached Bobby, a hopefulness in his eyes, "Where is she? Wheres Claire?" He asked worried, searching his eyes for something, anything that pointed to Claire's location. But bobby just looked at him, an eternal sadness and grief painted across his face, "She said that she loves you and that she'll see you soon." He replied weakly, his eyes not able to look into the eyes of the man that stood before him. The one man that gained her utter and complete love. Although the man was known as a monster, tough and rarely showed any sign of feeling other than rage, his eyes became glassy and watered as he turned away, his hands clenched into firm fists. He stormed into the ruined temple that sat on the mountain top they resided on. "What did she mean by I'll see you soon! I know you know Charles!" He barked, anger boiling to the surface. The man turned in his wheelchair, sadness in his eyes, "Theres something we need to discuss."
