Betty Cooper

My father and mother are literally the worst, they just dropped one of the biggest bombs of my life

I'm engaged to be married to none other than, Archibald Andrews

Now it's not that Archibald isn't a good guy, he's just not the person I see as becoming my guy

I mean I'm not even 18 for Christ's sakes!

My parents arranged for Archibald and I to be married at the end of summer, that's only 6 months away

I reminded my parents that I'd be 18 in less than 3 months and they so graciously reminded me that without them I stood alone against the Jones family, our greatest and most powerful enemies I may add, and so the answer was simple, conform or be outcast to your death

These were the thoughts racing through my mind as I sat in front of my vanity as I was getting ready for the biggest shindig in all of Riverdale

The Cooper Bash

The Cooper Bash is one of the most important gatherings in all of Riverdale which makes it both one of the best and worst nights of my life

It's one of the best because it's one of the few times a year I get to hang out with kids my age outside of school

It's also one of the most stressful nights of the year for me. I have to put on the little miss perfect act all night and wear the most beautiful dress and the most perfect smile. It's especially stressful this year since our new cousins the Blossoms joined the family

The only problem with that is now were at odds trying to decide who will take over the family business

It's a debate between myself and my new cousin Jason

My new aunt and uncle Clifford and Penelope Blossom argue that I'm too young to take over the family business. Which is exactly why my parents conjured up to idea of my engagement so that with the help of my new husband I can lead the family business with an iron fist

My parents are trying to argue that Jason hasn't lived in this life for very long, making him inexperienced, as oppose to myself whose been in this game my whole life. I just wish it wasn't me that had to take over the family business

I once asked my parents why my older sister Polly couldn't take over the family business but they said she was too hot headed for this business

So that leaves me, the only other heir destined, more like threatened to take over the family business

I was drawn away from my thoughts by a knock on the door

I already knew it was my mother before she even set foot in my bedroom

"Dear, Veronica is here to see you" she says in her fake enthusiastic voice per usual

"Send her up please mother" I say trying to hide the bitterness in my voice

"In a moment dear I wanted to speak with you first" she says going to sit on my bed

What is it this time?

"What is it this time mother, sending me to a convent are we?" I say through a fake smile

"Now, now Elizabeth calm down I just want to talk" she says

"About?" I ask raising an eyebrow

"Your engagement"she says happily

I almost roll my eyes because this engagement was nothing but a lie
