"I caught it!"
"It's my Espeon!"
"Well, don't let it wander off then! I caught it fair and square. Go ahead, ask it who it's trainer is."
I stare at the two trainers, fighting like kids. It was actually kind of amusing. It turns out that a trainer walking through the woods had spotted me, and assumed I was wild and caught me. Silver ended up finding him, trying to get me to battle a wild Pidgeotto, who clearly was not interested in fighting me. "Espeon?" Silver called, "Am I your trainer?"
I lazily nod, stretching out. The other trainer pushes Silver out of the way. "It's lying! Finders keepers, loser."
He tries to grab me off the ground, but I hold him back using psychic. He yells at me. "STOP IT YOU USELESS POKEMON!"
I yawn and stop using psychic, and watch the trainer fall flat on his face. I hadn't bothered to pay attention to his name. He spits the dirt out of his mouth and pushes himself off the ground. He opens his mouth, but before he says anything, I use psychic again, this time to take my Pokeball out of his belt. "HEY!" He shouts. "GIVE IT BACK!"
I lift the Pokeball just out of his reach, and watch him angrily dance around, trying to catch it. Silver is frozen in place watching, and he appears to be holding in laughter, as his face is slightly red. After he gives up and storms off, I crush the Pokeball and drop it to the ground. Silver bursts out laughing, and falls to the floor. "Did you see his face? Priceless!" He manages to say, before entering another uncontrollable fit of laughter.
I can't help but smile along. I haven't truly smiled since... I can't remember. After Silver finally calms down, he stands up and walks over to me, his face still bright red from laughter. Her picks me up and gives me a big hug. "I couldn't ask for a better Pokemon than you, Espeon."
I feel a tingling inside of me. It felt good to hear a compliment. I tried to shake off the feeling, but it didn't leave. Why won't it leave? Shouldn't it be gone? I notice Silver looking at me strangely. Is it just me, or was I... Bigger? I suddenly realize what was happening, and kick off of his chest and land running. "Wait! Come back Espeon!"
By the time I am deep enough into the forest, I am already my regular height and wearing clothes. I watch as the last of my skin turns from purple to a light colour, lacking any tan. I quickly climb the nearest tree, and sigh. I should've known. If I stay in human form, or Pokemon form for one moon cycle without changing, I would turn into a gijinka, a combination of human and Pokemon from ancient legends. I learned that the hard way, after staying a Pokemon for too long a few months ago. I can't let anyone see me.
As a gijinka, I'm wearing a light purple tank top, sweatpants and running shoes. I also have an Espeon tail, ears, and a circular red gem on my forehead, that matches the one on an Espeon. I sit down on the branch I am standing on, resting my back against the trunk and letting my feet dangle down. I was a few branches up, so no one could see me. "Espeon?" I hear, unmistakably Silver's voice call out. "Come back. Eeeessspppeeeeooonn?"
I lean foreword, wishing I could respond. "I-I don't know what I did wrong. Please come back" he said a bit more quietly, on the verge of tears.
I bite my lip, as he falls to his knees and starts sobbing. A single tear falls down my face. My tail twitches as another rolls over my other cheek. "I'm over here" I whisper so he can't hear me.
"Please" he quietly says, his voice shaking.
I try to shift into an Espeon, but it doesn't work. I've overworked it, now I can't be a Pokemon for a while. Inching foreword a bit more I look down at him. He looked absolutely devastated. I leaned forward, just a little bit, and that was my mistake. I heard a crunch. There was a pause, and then a huge snap. Next thing I knew, I was falling. 15 feet away... 10... 5...
I heard a high pitched scream. I couldn't feel anything. Nothing. I had stopped moving. My vision faded, and THEN I felt the pain.
