Charles guided Erik as he entered Shaw's Submarine. "Erik, make for the middle of the vessel. That's the point my mind can't penetrate. We have to assume that that's where Shaw is." You watched close by as Charles gave directions to Erik. "That's the nuclear reactor. Disable it." You kept quiet during all of this, knowing how important it was.

(Charles' POV)

"Erik, you're there. You've reached the void." I tried not to feel too triumphant. "He's not here, Charles. Shaw's not here! He left the sub!" Erik told me. This was confusing as I could've sworn that I had located the Void correctly. "What? He's got to be there. He has to be. There's nowhere else he can be. Keep looking." Maybe I should have sent someone else out. "And I'm telling you he's not. There's no-one here goddammit!" Erik shouted. And then there was silence.

(Author POV)

Charles' brow furrowed. "Erik? Erik!" Something had happened. "He's gone." Admitted Charles. "What?" You asked. Charles was annoyed. "He's gone into the void. I can't communicate with him!" You looked at the floor before suggesting that you could find Erik and fix it. "Think about it Charles. I'd be careful, I'd get out quickly. You said it yourself, you need my help." Your voice was shaky, but you were convinced that you could do this. "He's back!" Charles' smile returned as he spoke to you. Then, to Erik "Erik, whatever you're doing, keep doing it. It's starting to work."

(Charles' POV)

It was nice of (Y/N) to offer, but I preferred to stick to my original plan. "It's working. I'm starting to see him, Erik. But I can't yet touch his mind."

"Sorry Charles." I knew what he was going to do. "Erik, please be the better man." This wasn't supposed to happen. "I just don't trust you." I almost laughed at that, with all we've been through, he still doesn't know I'm there for him. "Erik, there will be no turning point."
