chapter twenty eight - "faded"

two years later

serina

the sweet aroma of coffee filled my nose as soon as i walked in.

the bell ringing when i pushed the door open, which caused the few people to look up from where they sat.

there weren't many people here at this time considering it was still quite early.

my old white converse squeaked across the floor as i made my way up to the front of the counter.

"hi, welcome to sweethearts cafe, what can i get you?" her cheerful tone rang through my ears.

my shoulders slumped in annoyance at her preppy attitude this early in the morning.

i pulled my hood closer to my face—a few strands of my hair poking out from it, already being covered to hide my face.

"ill just take a vanilla mocha coffee please." i spoke out politely.

my morning voice was hoarse and quiet but just loud enough for her to hear what i said.

"and your name?" she asked soon after putting in my order.

"serina." i spoke up again awkwardly.

handing her some money she gave me change back.

i decided to sit down in the corner of the coffee shop as i awaited my coffee.

i pulled the sleeves of my large hoodie to cover my hands. looking out the window to my left.

rain poured lightly from the sky, it looked gloomy–being dark that morning, it was a shade of dark grey covering the sky.

the streets were dimly lit due to it– only being six am.

"serina?" a name called out.

getting up i walk towards the counter and grab my coffee, before going back to where i was previously seated.

more people began to pile in as the coffee shop got busier; i sat there in silence enjoying my coffee, when the bell of the coffee place sounded.

i looked up to be met with two familiar faces i hadn't seen in a while.

they walked over laughing running up to me.

a big smile came over my face as i embraced them.

"i missed you two so much." i mumbled into the hug.

"hi beautiful." i say.

she laughs shying away from me as i give her a kiss on the lips.

i leaned down towards her ear, my nose barely grazing over it.

"and you look gorgeous as always baby." i whispered into her ear.

she giggles, her angelic laugh bouncing off the walls of the small room.
