Imprisoned

Chapter 7

Leto wasn't entirely sure where they had ended up but where ever it was it was very dark and had a cold wind. Luckily he had grabbed his coat from his room before teleporting so he could put that around Rosa's shoulders. She trembled from the cold for a little while until the coat began to warm her up a fair amount. Eva looked at the mother and son then realised she was free but going against her will she stayed with them. She knew that it probably wouldn't bother Leto what she did but she felt the need to hang around them.

Leto looked around and sighed heavily, he then glanced at Eva and asked, "You aren't going to run away?"

"Where are we?" she questioned ignoring his question.

He didn't reply for a while, "A woodland"

"Why did you bring us here?" Eva asked.

"It was the only place safe that I could think of under the pressure of us being attacked" Leto told her firmly.

Eva nodded and looked around some more. Bring her arms across her chest she shivered a bit and folded them to try and keep in some warmth. She then sighed loudly and both Rosa and Leto looked at her.

"What's wrong Eva?" Rosa asked.

The young woman jumped and looked at them, "It's nothing...I'm just still in my pajamas" she half laughed.

"We all are" Leto told her.

They fell into silence and Rosa asked, "Will we be able to go home?"

"For now no, Ashley and Josh are going to be lurking around there. It's too risky for us to be anywhere near home" Leto replied.

Rosa nodded her head as she understood, but Eva was thinking about this more until an idea came to mind, "What about if we do go back?" she asked.

Leto frowned at her and Rosa also didn't look certain about Eva's suggestion.

"You said that they will be lurking around your house presumably waiting for you to return. However I know Josh and I bet he's sent people out to do his dirty work of looking for us, which means it's too obvious to go back there. He won't be expecting us back there so in the long term it may be safer than running" Eva explained.

"Although that might be true I'm not going to risk it" Leto replied.

"Well we can both fight" Eva told him.

"Correction Eva, I can fight, you can't use your powers and against Ashley you won't last long"

"Then I'll just have to get this band off my arm" she told him.

Leto sighed, "You can't do it without the fingerprint of the person who put it on you"

"Well Kaz was the one who put it on me" Eva pondered, "My mission was to keep an eye on you and the Abbey, he said if I survived that then I would be worthy"

"I doubt watching us for a day is good enough" Leto replied.

"Even then I didn't keep an eye on you, I got knocked out"

"It sounds like he's been trying to get you killed" Rosa chipped in.

"Yeah he has been but I keep coming back with just mere wounds" Eva sighed, "Maybe if you take me back to Kaz and force him to remove the band from me. He's scared of people who have the Gene hence the restraints used on me so I couldn't rise and take power"

Leto went to reply but Rosa asked, "Eva, if you don't mind me asking, what was your job role?"

Looking away Eva told them quietly, "I worked as his Assassin of sorts"
