Chapter 5 - Decorating and Performing

The night wasn't as peaceful as I had hoped. I am a light sleeper and everything kept waking me up. I know I will get used to the sounds eventually. I woke up three times because if Merritt's snoring, twice when Jack fidgeted in the chair across from me, when Henley dropped something and woke up and because of Danny pacing the corridor at half three in the morning.

I heard Jack wriggle about some more before I heard his feet touch the floor. He was awake.

"Uhh, Niki are you awake yet?" He whispered, a dip formed in my bed as he sat down next to me.

"Mm, I am now" I replied, stretching and moving so I could face him.

"Sorry, I'm not really a morning person but I can hear the others"

"Yeah, I could hear you all last night, moving and snoring. And no I'm not a morning person either." I said, I picked up my phone to check the time. "Good job it's no longer morning"

It was 1:30. Jack stood up and pulled me to my feet.

"Food and tea?" He said.

"Are you only offering me tea because I'm English?" I laughed

"Well, I thought that maybe..." He stammered

"Yes, tea would be lovely. I do fit the stereotype"

I nodded and followed him into the kitchen. Henley was eating a peanut butter sandwich at the table, Merritt was reading on the sofa and Danny was.. Um.. I can't see him anywhere.

"Hi Henley, uh, where's Danny. Hate me so much he left?" I asked

"He doesn't hate you, yeah it's embarrassing for him to have been hurt by a teenage girl but he'll get over it" she replied

"Tea?" Jack offered.

"Yah, two big sugars and milky, Ta"

"I Thought I was the only one who like sugary tea" he smiled.

"Do we have any food?" I asked Henley.

"No, that's where Danny went. To get essentials"

"We should go shopping and decorate this place" I suggested. Everyone turned to face me and smiled

"Let's do it" Merritt said.

An hour later we were walking round a big shopping center, Henley and I were on charge of getting nice cushions and wall paper and things to decorate with. The boys can't be trusted to pick anything nice so we sent them food shopping.

Turns out Henley loves red so has picked out beautiful red matching accessories for her room and white furniture. I chose cream and black for my room, blue for Danny and green for Merritt.

We had brown leather sofas in the living room so decided to get brown furniture and curtains and blinds to match.

After filling 3 of those big shopping cart thingys with new stuff we made our way to the checkouts. It cost a lot but our sponsor, Art, was willing to pay or it all. We loaded a hired van with everything and drove back to the apartment.

The boys were already home so we let them carry most of the stuff inside. Henley and I decided to go get coffee and spend some time getting to know each other.

We found a little cafe a couple of streets away from out appartment. Henley ordered while I found a table. She came over with with two mugs of coffee.

"Black with three sugars right?" She said placing the mugs down.

"Yeah, thank you"

"So, you came here from England, that's long way to come at such a young age"
