"Have a great day sweetie, try to make it better than yesterday, please," Peyton's mom said to him.
"It's not my fault mom, he hit me first. You think I wanted to fight him?" he said getting all worked up about the topic.
"I know but you don't need to hit back, someone will stop it if it happens again."
"Mom, you know no one will help me."
Peyton gets out of the car and slams the door. Frustrated with the conversation Peyton starts walking towards the school. She doesn't get it, it's not my fault. I can't help I'm an easy target now. I really don't want to go in this place, he thought to himself. He was hesitant to open the door to the school knowing what was waiting for him. As he walked in he felt the eyes of the kids all on him.
Peyton walked down the hallway pressing his fingers against the scab on his busted lip.
He heard his classmates whispering to each other as he walked passed them. Is this really because I'm gay? he thought. He just wanted to get to his first period, at least he felt a little safe in there.
Coming around the corner, Jackson shot Peyton a cold glare. "Hey faggot, comin' back
for more?" His voice echoed down the hall.
"What do you want, Jackson?" Peyton asked.
"Just wanted to let you know you're a disgusting AIDs victim. I feel like I need a condom just talking to you," Jackson said.
Peyton was embarrassed. "Is that really how everyone thinks of me."
For a few second the hall was quiet, everyone was watching to see if they would fight again. Jackson grabbed Peyton and slammed him into the lockers, knocking the wind out of him.
"Do us all a favor and jump off a bridge you little bitch," Jackson said to Peyton.
Peyton got up and walked over to the bathroom. Blood was leaking out of the reopened scab on his lip. He looks at himself in the mirror dabbing the crappy paper towels on his lip.
"Why can't someone just help me, I'm gay, it's not like I have the plague or something," Peyton says to himself in the mirror.
The toilet flushes, in the mirror he could see Adam, Jackson's best friend. Peyton just stared at him.
"Take a picture it would last longer. Wait never mind, you'd end up touching yourself to it," Adam said.
"Just get out!" Peyton said with his voice echoing in the emptiness of the boy's bathroom.
Adam walked out of the bathroom. He turned around and looked at the door, almost feeling bad about what he said. With his head faced to the ground, he just walked to his class.
