«Where r u? I'm alone.» Mitch texted Scott from the school parking lot.
«Doctor. What about Kirstie?» Scott texted back almost immediately.
«She's home sick. I'm all alone.» Mitch started to get scared. Neither Scott nor Kirstie were with him. Mitch has been bullied ever since he came out during freshman year of high school. When Kirstie and Scott were around the bullies never approached Mitch but when he was alone they attacked.
«Be safe. :^(» Scott texted back after a minute. Mitch began walking down the side walk towards his house.
"Hey Grassi!" Mitch looked back and gasped. It was his bully. Nick and his two friends. Mitch sprinted down the sidewalk but Nick caught up quickly. Mitch's arms were grabbed by Nick's friends, his bookbag falling to the ground.
"Thought you could escape, didn't you Grassi?" Nick smirked cracking his knuckles. He pulled his fist back before punching Mitch in the stomach. Mitch's mouth fell open, a chocked pained gasp was the only sound that came out. Nick punched him again and Mitch felt every ounce of air rush out of his body.
When Nick was done with him Mitch laid beaten and bloody in the grass next to the sidewalk. He had a black eye, bloody nose, busted lip and was covered in bruises. "Scott," Mitch whispered even though no one was around. "Save me..." Was the last thing he said before passing out.
* * * * * Scott POV * * * * *
I was worried about Mitch. Hopefully he made it home safe. I was riding with my mom back to our house when we passed the school. In the grass I saw a figure, a body, I think. Wait. Mitch...
"Mom, stop the car!" I exclaimed and the car stopped moving.
"Scott, what-" I was already out of the car running to Mitch.
"Mitch! Mitch please, say something! Oh my-I'm so sorry. Mitch please just say something." I pulled him into my arms as I sat on my knees in the grass. I ran my thumb over his bruised cheek gently before breaking down crying into his neck. He was unconscious.
Scott's mom has rarely ever seen him cry so it broke her heart to see him cry holding on to Mitch's lifeless body. The one person he cared for the most.
"Come on Scott, let's take him home." She said grabbing Mitch's bookbag and putting it in the back seat. Scott held Mitch on his lap in the car, his arms wrapped tightly around the brunette.
"I'm so so sorry Mitchie. Please wake up, I'm so sorry." Scott whispered over and over again even though Mitch couldn't hear him. He had stopped crying and just held onto Mitch tightly.
Mitch opened his eyes slightly. "Scott...?" He asked softly, his voice raspy. Scott sniffed looking down and nodded, kissing Mitch's forehead. "It hurts."
"I know Mitchie. We're here." Scott spoke softly.
"We?" Mitch turned his head a little to see Scott's mom smile at him. He gave her a small smile and looked back at Scott. Scott moved Mitch so that he was sitting up more. Mitch nuzzled into Scott's chest.
"Thank you."
"For what?" Scott asked,confused.
"For saving me." Mitch said before falling asleep again.
Mitch's mom wasn't home when they pulled into his driveway. "Can he stay with us for a while?" Scott asked his mom with hopeful eyes. She nodded and drove down the street to their house.
Scott carried Mitch upstairs to his bedroom and laid him down in the bed. "No." Mitch grabbed his hand before he could walk away.
"Mitch you need to sl-"
