Wings.

{In a world filled with people, only one is the one you are destined for. Except... That's not the case.}

Okay. Okay hear me out. Wings. On your back. Basically like tattoos but you're born with them, but they develope during the toddler years. Except, during the teen ages and onwards, they become actual wings.

And the size, colour, and shape go into compatability. The closer the wings are to each other, the more likely the two are considered "soulmates" (i.E. They have a higher chance of falling amd staying in love).

And two or three people have your wings exactly. Like, straight up your wings except on another person.

Except... Someone has disfigured wings.

Walking the corridor, it's only natural to look at people's wings. Some people are drawing another's wings, some are flaunting them, some are even drifting in the air.

I'd spread my hideous wings apart, showing my own isolation from everyone.

To the left, a large, teal wing. It was very bright, very noticable. It was more common than not, too.

To the right, however, you get an even larger, near pitch-black wing. It was also noticable. Not many people had black wings.

And I, a heterochromatic with brown and green eyes, look like the palette of an artist whenever they had too many differeng colours to choose from.

I was a disjointed mess.

And I rose, my head still down, my feet dangling as I hover above the ground. I smiled, and moved onward.

My class. I saw people with near-replicas one one wing, yet the two are polar opposites.

I didn't even understand what it meant.
No, scratch that. No one did.

Was I the only one with heterchromatic-esque wings?
