3 MONTHS EARLIER.

JAYNAS POV:

"Katey please!!" Matt whined.

"Fine! I'll see what I can do." Katey replied as she grabbed her coat, and walked out into the freezing cold snow blizzard. She slammed the door behind her.

"Well she's pissed." I said.

"She'll get over it." Matt laughed. As he grabbed his Arizona green tea and took a sip.

Katey's parents were going out of town for a week to California to visit her grandma. Katey was mad that she couldn't go in the first place, but now that matt told everyone that she's got the house to herself all week everyone is saying they should have a party. Katey doesn't want to, but matt told them that the party is gonna be on Saturday, two days after her parents leave. I tried to stay out of it and not pick sides..

"Ok well I'm gonna go home now." I told matt.

"Do you want a ride?" He asked. I shook my head no and zipped up my coat as I walked out the door. As soon as I stepped out the door I felt a sharp bite of cold on my cheeks.

--

My house is only 1 minute away walking, so I didn't mind walking in the blizzard. Katey's house is right next to mine,so she also walked home too.

I couldn't see anything in this storm. Everything is white.

When I got closer to my house, I wanted to check if Katey got home ok, so I stopped at her house on the way to mine. I rang the bell, and her mother answered the door. As soon as the door opened the smell of alcohol waved out of the house. She was drunk.

"H-hello Mrs. Collins." I said. "Is Katey here.?"

"No"

"Oh ok, thank you." I said stepping back. She slammed the door, and I walked slowly down the driveway so I wouldn't slip. I got to the end of the driveway and ran to my house next door.

I called Katey's cell phone nod she didn't answer. My heart was pounding. Where could she be? Did she get lost in the storm? All of these horrible questions were going through my mind. I called it again and then 4 more times. She didn't answer once. I called matt to see if she went back, and he said she didn't. At this point I was freaking out. Everyone in my house was sleeping already, so I didn't know who to ask for help.

My I went the kitchen to get some hot chocolate so I could go out in the storm to look for her. I left my phone in my room. Of course when I was in the kitchen I heard my phone ringing. I ran to my room and I got there to late. It already went to voice mail. Then my phone said I had a voicemail...from Katey. She was crying and whispering the whole message.

"Please stop calling, I'm hiding in my closet and my dad is trying to find me. Love you Jayna, see ya later." The message ended. I had tears falling down my face and I was speechless.

I wondered if this was because of the party.. Did she say something to her parents about the party and that pissed them off? I don't know what happened, but I also didn't know how to help. I decided to stay out of it and just hope Katey is gonna be ok.

I seriously didn't know what to do, it was Christmas tomorrow. And it was already 11pm, I went to bed wondering why Katey was the one to have an abusive dad and an alcoholic mom.

--

The next morning I woke up to the sound of my doorbell ringing. I got out of bed and put my hair in a messy bun, and I looked in the mirror. I noticed the time and saw it was 3 in the morning. Who could be at the door right now? Santa..?

I walked down the stairs and looked out the top window of the door. Someone was standing there, but I couldn't see who it was.. All I saw was a coat. I opened the door and saw two people.

Matt and Katey.

Matt was holding Katey in his arms and he was crying. I stepped out of the way and let them in. I helped Matt carry Katey's unconscious body to my kitchen, and we laid her on the counter. I warmed up a hot rag as matt sat there next to her holding her freezing hand and mumbling something I didn't understand. I took the hot rag and set it on Katey's forehead and tears were falling from my face again.

"What happened." I asked.

Matt tried to say the words, but he couldn't get them out because he was crying to hard. I hugged matt and took him the the living room. I set a pillow on the ground next to the fireplace and set a blanket down next to the pillow.

"Light the fireplace." I mumbled as I pointed to the matches on the coffee table. He understood me and grabbed some wood and a couple matches. I walked over to Katey and replaced the rag on her forehead. When matt was done with the fire, he walked or the table and grabbed Katey's freezing cold body and he carried her to the floor by the fireplace. He set her head gently on the pillow, and covered her in the blanket. Then he laid down next to her holding her hand, he slowly fell asleep.
