I woke up to hear the birds singing, well more like screaming. When you live in an old dirty cave you can't really hear the soothing song of a bird. So, I get stuck with the dying sound of a screaming bird. So, I woke up to screaming birds Fun, right? On the other side of the room Tiffany was still asleep. Dude? I thought to myself. How can you sleep when the stupid birds are screaming? I rolled my eyes and hopped up. I crept to my wardrobe and pulled off my PJs and put on a black T-shirt with light blue denim jeans. I walked out into the hallway and down the stairs.
"Morning." Patrick called out. He was making bacon and eggs. Yum!
"Morning." I replied back. I walked over to him and sat on the kitchen table. "Hey, can I ask you something?"
Patrick looked up and smiled. "Of course."
"Can you teach me how to control my power?" I blurted out hoping he would say yes. His smile faded. Oh gosh.
He started to laugh. "Yes!"
"Yeah?"
"Yeah, I can teach you, but what changed your mind?" He asked.
Great now my smiled faded. I coughed. "Umm, what happened with Sabrina really shook me, and I felt so weak and helpless. I never want to feel like that again. So, if I knew how to control my powers and use them, then I won't need saving. I'll be the saviour."
Patrick smiled. "I'm glad to hear. Now, after breakfast meet me outside and we will begin." I nodded and stole a piece of bacon and chucked it into my mouth. "Hey!" He yelled.
"Sorry," I teased. "You weren't watching." We both started to chuckle.
After breakfast, Patrick and I went down near the Neon river and we started to train. After one hundred time of trying to control my power, my excitement turned into 'Why the heck did I decide to do this torture?' Kind of thing.
"Control the power." Patrick said to me for the one hundredth time. "Let your flames run through your veins and into your hands. Okay, ready and shot." I opened my eyes and reached out my hand hoping that a flame-ball would melt my target.
"Nothing. Same as the last fifty times." I said sitting down and giving up. Patrick sat down next to me.
"You just need time. You'll get it."
"Yeah, by the time I 'get it' There would be about three more monster attacks."
"Let's just try again." I nodded and we both stood up. I closed my eyes and focused on the flame. I focused on the fire running through my veins. In my mind, I imagined flames and fire burning down whatever in its way. With my eyes still closed I reached out my hand. Hearing a loud crash, I slowly opened my eyes to see a tree twenty meters from here set on fire. I turned around to see Patrick with his mouth wide open.
I screamed with joy. "Yes! I did it!" I started to dance. "I did it, I did it, who's the best? I am. Oh yeah!"
"Well, that was impressive." A voice said from behind. Noah walked up to me and gave me a high-five. "Nice work, flame girl."
"Flame girl? Is that my new nick name or something?"
"Yeah, why not?" We both laughed.
"Hey, Patrick. Is it okay to take a break for a while?" I turned around to see Patrick still with his mouth hanging wide open. Still staring at the tree.
"Hang on big guy." Noah said reaching out his hand and spraying water from out of his hand onto the tree.
"Will I ever be able to do that?" I asked.
