Today was not a good day, Sarah thought as she woke to the sound of rain trickling on the window closest to the wall, as she woke up in her bed that morning. She knew she had so much assessments due this week. She had to just get through this week. Just this week to and then should we be able to relax. Sarah didn't know if she was really excited for next week or if she just wanted this dreadful week to end. The former she told herself, almost willed herself.
Sarah never got out of bed, when she woke up, she usually lounges in bed for hours until she finally has the will to get up. She liked having her own room at college, it was peaceful. No one to tell her what to do. It was definitely a change from high school when she lived in a small room, she called 'home' with her sister.
It's not that like Sarah hated having a big family. She disliked her families' antics. Her parents where very old school, they didn't understand how families where supposed to act. For this reason, Sarah thought of her family as dysfunctional. Her brother was always on out, partying she assumed. Her parents disproved. Her parents, always fighting. She felt as though there was a ticking time bomb, waiting to pop at any given moment. She just wanted quiet. She treasured the quiet of the night. She loved the dead of night. When the earth slept, and the moon was alive. She loved looking at the starry night wondering about the future. The future, the root of her anxiety, but also the comfort of her thoughts. She longed for the perfect life. As shallow as it sounded, Sarah wanted the perfect Pinterest life. She constantly updating her Pinterest board, secretly creating a collection for her future life. The life she longed for. But most of all Sarah wanted to fall in love. An epic love. A ride or die, as cheesy as it sounded.
Sarah, scrolled through her phone, as part of her waking up routine, browsing Facebook, Instagram and any incoming emails she was awaiting. Long story short, she wasn't coping with college this year. It had a massive toll on her that she it didn't other year before. Sara was not new to the fast paced, soul-crushing nature of college. She was in her 3rd year. She only had 1 year left and then she was done with this place. It was both terrifying and comforting to know that all her hard work was going to get her somewhere. Her parents where proud, she was the first person in her family to attend college. Her father was an electrician who came to here when he was a teenager with my mum to find a new life for himself. It was admirable. It was courageous. But how was Sarah supposed to top that. Not that she wanted to. But her parents expected great things from her. She was going to be a Nurse. What kind she didn't know yet? Nursing school was harder than she thought. But this year was the worst for Sarah, she was just trying to get through the semester. She couldn't handle it anymore. She felt like she was just floating. Stuck in the middle. She couldn't understand why she felt like this. Maybe it was because she never left her room, unless it was for class.
Sarah, wasn't exactly the most popular person at school. In fact, she was far from it. She was what people called a drifter. She drifted from one friend group to another. It wasn't intentional. She would like close friends. But no one stayed long enough. Sarah, had one close friend Hanna. But she went to another College, so they barely saw each other. It was for the best, Sarah didn't want to hold any of her friends back due to her own problems.
It was for the best. Sarah thought, she didn't want a repeat of 1st year. She didn't want to get close to anyone. Getting close to people was never a good idea. Having friends was fine, but it was not good to depend on someone else. Sarah didn't always believe this. It was her father, that indented this thought form into her. But she didn't hate it. It made sense, why would you give an individual that power to make or break you. Sarah never, liked her father's outlook on life, but in this case, she didn't mind it. She understood why, even if she had to learn it the hard way.
As she starred out the window, Sarah decided it was time to get up. Leaning over to stare at the clock she noticed it was almost 9am. Alarmed, Sarah jerked up she had class soon. But class can wait she needed her morning coffee. Coffee made everything better.
