The awkward silence was unbearable as we sat outside on the curb, covered in food, waiting for a taxi to drive by.
Only one word could describe that double date.
Disaster.
"This was all your fault," Axel told me.
"Right," I snickered, "my fault."
One And a Half Hours Before
"So," I said to Axel as we were driving to the restaurant, trying to ignore the fact that Duncan and Jordan were making out heavily in the back of the car.
He laughed at my awkwardness, just in time for us to pull up at a large, and fancy restaurant.
Thank goodness I wore a fancy dress, I thought as we all got out of the car.
We all sat down at the table, Jordan and I having our own conversation as Axel and Duncan had theirs.
"May I take your order?" An attractive waiter asked, coming over to our table.
He pushed his blonde hair out of his eyes and eyed me curiously as I glanced over at Jordan.
"We'll all have the pasta," Duncan told him.
"It'll be out in a few," the waiter said, staring right at me as he disappeared into the sea of people.
"Ooh, someone's got his eye on you," Jordan told me, elbowing me under the table.
I glared at her and glanced cautiously over at Axel who had a blank face and was training his eyes on the people at the table behind us.
"How's the movie been?" Jordan asked to change the subject.
Duncan smiled, "it's been good." Duncan was cast a couple weeks in as a background character because the other broke his arm and wasn't able to fulfill the role.
"Great," Axel muttered.
I turned to Axel as Jordan continued to question Duncan. "What's with you?"
"You don't even realize?" He asked me grudgingly. "You really don't see it?"
"See what?"
"You were flirting with that guy!" He told me, finally turning to face me.
I wish he didn't.
His eyes were clouded with anger and he was wearing a mask to hide his emotions, save for the anger.
"I wasn't!" I protested.
He snorted, "right."
"What the hell is w-"
"Here's your food." The waiter announced, successfully cutting off my question.
He set mine down first, sliding a piece of paper underneath the plate as he put it down. I pretended I didn't notice, but right after he set it down, Axel lifted up my plate to remove the slip.
"Axel," I warned, "d-"
He laughed in a sinister way, "'wasn't flirting.'"
He flashed me the paper that had nine messily scrawled digits on it, and a little note. "Even I could feel the chemistry - Call Me"
My eyes widened and I looked over at the waiter, "how is that flirting? He gave me his number and I didn't do anything!"
Axel stood up and lifted the bowl of pasta up in the air, near the waiter. "Axel," Duncan said, but Axel didn't listen.
I winced as Axel dumped the pasta all over the poor guy, who stood there with an angry gleam in his eyes.
"What the hell!" A frustrated Jordan said, standing up along with us and patting the side of her freshly stained pasta hair.
"You got pasta on my girlfriend!" Duncan exclaimed loudly, earning a bunch of excited whispers to be set around the restaurant at the word 'girlfriend'.
"Sorry, man, collateral damage."
"Collateral damage?" Jordan spoke loudly.
My jaw dropped, this wasn't going to end well.
She splashed her drink on Axel, but accidentally sprayed me with a few drops.
At this point, it was just the four of us, the recently humiliated waiter running off in the direction of the kitchen.
Axel wiped the ice tea from his eyes and leaned over to the table beside us, grabbing a vanilla milkshake and turning around rapidly, accidentally dumping its contents on a stunned Duncan.
Duncan grimaced before grinning wickedly and yelling, "FOOD FIGHT" loudly, earning the rest of the restaurant's attention.
People stood up around us, flinging expensive food at one another and I watched in horror as I got splashed with a chocolate sundae by Jordan.
I grabbed some ice cream off myself, splattering her hair with it, the brown contrasting nicely against her baby blue eyes and already half red hair.
She shrieked loudly, grabbing the plate of pasta just as I got pelted in the back by something sticky.
Apparently she did too, because she whipped around to whoever threw it at her, but accidentally splattered the man behind her with pasta, the red sauce dripping down the front of his expensive looking suit.
"That'd be so bad if that was the manager," a girl behind us commented offhandedly.
The man narrowed his eyes and grabbed Jordan's arm forcefully, but before he could do anything I spoke up, "hey. Get off her!"
"Harley," Axel said lowly, but I ignored him and grabbed the water off the table, splashing it in his face.
The man turned beet red and wiped the water off with his beefy hand before grabbing my arm too.
"Go!" Duncan yelled, and him and Axel both threw handfuls of pasta at the man at the same time.
"All of you out!" The man screamed suddenly, the whole restaurant silencing. "Out," he said menacingly.
I mock saluted him, "yes m'am, I mean sir."
I walked briskly out of the restaurant, my pasta stained face hung high, the rest of my table following after me.
Present
"How is it my fault again?" I asked Axel.
"You were flirting!" He accused.
"No, I wasn't!"
Duncan groaned, slinging an arm around Jordan. They were both covered in food, their hair colors barely visible underneath. "Just kiss and make up already."
I stubbornly crossed my arms, "I didn't do anything wrong."
Axel groaned, "fine." He turned to face me, "sorry I got jealous." I raised an eyebrow, signaling for him to continue. He ran a hand through his hair but it got stuck halfway and I had to cover my mouth with my palm to suppress my snicker. He blew a breath out of his mouth, "and I'm sorry that I accused you."
I grinned, "apology accepted."
"Thank God," he muttered.
"That was actually really fun," Jordan said.
I laughed, "it wasn't bad for a double date."
"Are you guys kidding? It was hilarious! Jordan, especially your face when you spilled food all over the manager." Duncan said, making Jordan's face turn a bright shade of red.
Axel and I laughed alongside them, the incident totally forgotten. It was kind of cute how easily Axel got jealous. As if sensing that I was thinking about him, Axel smirked at me a little before bringing his lips to mine and kissing me.
