Burning Hearts

Chapter 1

"Tringgggg...." I was taken out of my reverie by the loud noise of the  ringing bell.The class had ended.

"Where were you lost girl?I was calling you from past ten minutes but you didn't reply.Did something happen?" My best friend Priya asked me.

When I didn't reply for some time, she looked at me straight in the eye and understood." Don't tell me that you were thinking about Shiv again..God! Why don't you understand that you are wasting your time and energy on him? He does not deserve you......" She went on and on..

Trust me she is the only one who knows me in and out,even my sister does not know that much about me.She was there for me when I had given up on the thought of livibg and I love her for this but at times like this I wished that she didn't know me so well.

SHIV.. Just hearing this name gives me goosebumps all over the body.I can never forget him and all the other things that he did with me.No matter what happens I'll never forgive him for what he made me go thorough..Never.

"....And you again tuned out.Now I am starting to think that  you do it intentionally to piss me off" Priya said  pouting.For the first time today I started laughing.She is such a baby sometimes.

"Oh! How did you guess...I thought I was smart enough to hide it.Nevertheless since you got to know the truth what's the use in hiding the rest.Your sense if humor is getting old just like you." I said faking sadness.Priya's mouth dropped open upon hearing my words.She was opening and closing her mouth like a gaping fish.I couldn't control my laughter any longer and bursted out laughing.After few seconds Priya also joined me.Once again she succeeded in shifting my attention and making me smile.

We left the classroom and went to the cafeteria to fill our tummies with food.Priya went crazy seeing the huge line and started scolding me for getting us late. Finally we had our lunch with her blabbering every now and then.After lunch I didn't have any classes so I told her bye and left the college.The college was not very far from my home.The weather was fine so I decided to walk back.I didn't have any other option since I had come with Priya in her car.

Soon my thoughts drifted to him.Unconsciously a sigh escaped my mouth.Why did he do that? Why? Was I not good enough? Two tear drops slipped from my eyes.I quickly wiped my face and urged myself not to think about him again.I reached home and took a shower.I stood in front of the mirror and saw a weak,dull and lifeless girl instead of a strong and cheerful one.How did my life turn out to be like this?How? At that time I promised myself that I will not let anyone walk over me again.No one will see me this weak again.With these thoughts in mind I got dressed,went to bed and drifted off to sleep preparing myself for the next day.
