My favorite time of the year is summer, the first reason being it's not raining, the second being I get to surf and the third reason being Bondi Beach. Yes, Bondi Beach. The beach that everyone goes to, whether to fulfill their dream of becoming a lifeguard or to have the satisfaction of being in Australia. And as much as us here at Bondi love visitors they just don't know how to respect the beach rules which always makes life a living hell for the lifeguards. What makes it worse is that they don't think they're doing anything wrong.

Now this is a lot of complaining coming from someone who isn't even a lifeguard, just a local who understands their frustrations. Every morning before the beach becomes crowded with these said tourists, I like to enjoy the water just like my father and I have my entire life.

Oh did I forget to mention who my dad is? Well's he's that big guy in charge of all the lifeguards at Bondi, Tamarama and Bronte, the one and only Hoppo. Now everyone sees him as this big threatening guy, especially the lifeguards, but not me I guess being around him all my life makes him seem like this giant teddy bear. And today I'm dropping in at the beach because some of the older guys asked me to join them in a surf, even though the conditions aren't the best. I decided to tag along and see if I wanted to join.

"So why exactly are we going surfing during shift?" I asked curiously as my father and I headed across the promenade, I watched as we got closer to the water, the waves looked massive.

"Big waves call for training since it's the best to put the boys skills to the test, so today the young blokes are training," Dad explained to me as we walked across the sand, I saw the lifeguards that were training a couple yards away from the other guys. Kerrbox, Deano, Whippet and Luke along with my dad.

"Wait Max isn't going to be here is he?" I asked, my Dad looked at me nervously and rubbed the back of his neck, "damn it Dad, I told you I'm not ready."

"Y/N it's been two months already, your mother and I think you need to talk to him," my Dad told me as I stopped him before we got to the other guys. I looked at him because I couldn't believe he was the one doing this!

"You and mom actually talked, and about me, I didn't think that you two actually talking would be bad," a tear broke from my eye, I heard some of the guys come from behind me, "honestly if this what you are going to do to make me talk to him, then don't talk to me at all."

I turned around and saw Max, he was standing there with some of the other guys but I was too pissed to care. I broke through them and headed back up the beach. My amazing day has turned to shit just like that, all because my dad tried to get me to talk to Max, my ex-boyfriend. I headed straight for my car, I stood there and slammed my hands against the car. That's when I heard someone clear their throat behind me, and I turned around.

"Max?" I asked, he stood there with his stupid cheeky half smile, I wiped a tear from my eye, "what do you want?" I asked.

"What happened back there?" he asked walking beside me and facing me, I sighed.

"Why do you care?" I asked.

"Y/N we may have broke up, but I still care for you," Max replied, "a lot."

"If you really cared we would have never broke up," I answered, in my mind I guess I thought we were going to be together forever then again do teenage relationship ever last?

"We only broke up because you talked about how you wanted your life to be this big thing when I have nothing going to for me, only lifeguarding," Max responded, "you have surfing, school and all these amazing opportunities!"

"So you decide to break up with me?" I asked, "that was your only choice?"

"Of course not, but, it was the best option for you to be able to pursue all of that stuff," Max answered back, I looked at him hurt but relieved at the same time.

"I wanted to all of that with you!" I finally let it out, "after you broke up with me it killed me, I lost all my inspiration to do anything because you weren't there."

"I thought you needed space," Max looked down disappointed in himself.

"Of course not," I laughed trying to loosen the mood, "I still want to do all of that with you." I responded putting my hand on his, he looked up at me.

"Even if I'm not doing everything like you are?" Max asked, I smiled and laughed.

"Yes!" I replied, "I especially want to do it with you!"

Max started laughing because of how stupid our break up really was and how dumb it was that we found out about it. He immediately pulled me into and hug.

"Well then maybe we can give us another shot?" he asked, I smiled.

"Of course."
