Chapter 18: Together

*Liz's POV*

My eyes widened when Carl's lips touched mine. But, a second later I kissed back. It unfortunately ended a second later when Beth screamed, it was a happy scream though.

We quickly stopped so no one came and saw and I grabbed Beth, and pulled her into the van.

"Beth! What the hell? Are you trying to embarrass the hell out of me?" I acted mad, but I really wasn't, I mean after what just happened how could I be mad?

"Sorry but it was adorable!" She smiled back at me. "What was adorable?" A southern accent asked, and Beth and I looked behind us to see Daryl sitting there, with a toothpick hanging out of his mouth with his crossbow in his hands.

My eyes widened. "What are you doing in here?" I asked him.

"I asked first" He smirked, challenging me. I stayed silent and thankfully Beth did too. "Don't worry I already saw everything" He smirked.

"Ok, well could you-" I was cut off by Daryl running out of the van screaming. "LIZ AND CARL SITTING IN A TREE K-I-S-S-I-N-G" He repeatedly yelled over and over.

I ran out to be glanced at with multiple pairs of eyes. "Daryl you'll attract walkers!" I scolded him. He chuckled evilly "Yeah but it was totally worth it"

I covered my face in my hands while Beth laughed beside me, enjoying my embarrassment.

"I'm going back to my tent" I muttered walking towards my tent. "No stay!" Beth begged me. "Why? So you can just laugh at me" I replied chuckling at her. She remained silent so I continued to go to my tent.

I assumed Carl was coming over to the tent because I heard Daryl call out "Just remember we don't need anymore babies so use protection!"

I glanced up at him smiling, patting the seat next to me. "God that was" but I stopped because he probably got what I was saying. "Yeah, embarrassing" He laughed, holding my hand.

"So what are we?" I asked him. He looked up at me. "Well I told you I liked you but do you like me?" He asked, obviously already knowing the answer. I gave him a look and he smiled at me.

"So we're together?" He asked. "Not until you ask my properly" I sassed at him jokingly. "Okay, Eliza, will you be my girlfriend?" He questioned.

"No." I simply told him. He looked at me with wide eyes, but before I could tell him I'm joking Beth crashed in.

"Why'd you say no!" Beth yelled.

"Were you eavesdropping?" I yelled back at her. "Wait who else was?" I asked, praying it was at the most just her and Maggie.

"Relax, it was just Maggie, Glenn and I" She told me. I sighed relieved. "But why'd you say no?" She repeated.

"It was a joke! Oh my god Beth calm down! Of course the real answer is yes!" I yelled at her. This girl I swear..

Soon Maggie and Glenn piled in as well. "Finally!" Then exclaimed in unison. I rolled my eyes at all 3 of them.

Soon they all left and it was just Carl and I. I looked at him smiling. He looked back and gently pressed his lips onto my soft ones, as they moved in sync with each other.

For once in the past year,

I felt normal.

I felt like an actual teenager.

Like the world wasn't ending.

I was happy.
