Lifty curled up in a ball next to his brother, who took off his blanket and placed it on his twin. Their parents recently kicked them out of a home at just 12, saying that were "annoying as the day is long" and "they don't do anything around the house", even though they happily offered to help their parents with chores and all they did was rudely tell them to go away. Lifty's nose was turning red, indicating that he was catching a cold. Shifty buried his head in his hands, feeling completely useless. His brother was getting sick and there wasn't anything he could do about it. Snowflakes started to fall. Shifty mentally sighed. He sadly looked at Lifty. His eyes were watery and red, and he was sniffing a lot. Lifty looked up at Shifty and smiled at him. Shifty smiled back and patted his head. Shifty's smile suddenly faded and his attention turned to a bottle of cold medicine he saw in Russell's clear bag. He had an idea. "I'll be right back," Shifty said. "Okay." Lifty sniffed. Shifty got up and started to follow Russell. When the time was right, he stuck his hand into the bag and took the bottle. Russell turned around and looked around in confusion. He shrugged and kept walking. Shifty was hiding in an opening between two buildings. His heart was racing. Did I really just do that? Shifty thought. A small part of him felt guilty, but this was for Lifty. Shifty made it back to his brother with the cold medicine in hand. Lifty's ears perked up. "What's that?" Lifty asked. His cold was getting worse. His voice sounded more and more congested. "Cold medicine." Shifty said, bending down on one knee and opening the remedy. He poured a good amount into the cap and motioned it towards Lifty's mouth. He made a face after drinking it. Shifty chuckled. "It'll take a little bit of time to kick in, but I promise you'll be okay."

And he was right. Lifty was fine shortly after.

But every action has a consequence behind it.
