The Hatake Siblings (Naruto Fan Fiction)

Three: Pass or Fail

 - Kaito's Point of View - 

   I let out a yawn and place my hands on my head as three figures come into view. "How long do you think dad's going to make us wait?" I ask to Kaoru, whose hands are shoved into his pocket and his eyes are half-lidded. "Probably a while," he signs, yawning. Once we reach the three figures, I notice that Naruto is already half asleep and sitting on the ground. 

"Good morning, guys," I call, waving to them and closing my eyes for a smile. "Good morning, Kaito-chan!" Naruto yells, his voice mumbled from sleep taking over. "Hello, Sakura," I smile. "Morning, Kaito," she huffs before looking away. Kaoru takes a seat next to Naruto and begins to talk to him about Ramen, which isn't much of a conversation because Naruto is practically sleeping. 

I look over to Sasuke who has his hands crossed over his chest. He looks as if he's had a good nights sleep because he's fully awake and functional. "Morning, Sasuke-chan," I greet, walking up to the ravenette. He looks at me before nodding in recognition. Better than I grunt, I supposed. Soon, I find myself leaning on Sasuke for support due to the fact that I'm about to fall from sleep deprivation. 

I blush when I notice that he has one hand wrapped around my waist to keep me from falling and I have on hand hooked over his shoulder. I look like an injured person who needs to be carried by a friend. 

"Morning, everyone. Ready for your first day?" I hear dad's voice and I'm instantly awake, but I don't pull my arm off of Sasuke. Naruto and Sakura glare and dad, fingers pointed at him. "YOU'RE LATE!"

"Well, a black cat crossed my path so I had to take the long was," he lies, closing his eyes in a smile. I frown and watch as he walks over to one of the wooden stumps and places a clock on it. "Well," he pauses to clear his throat, "let's get started. Here we go, it's set for noon," he informs, pressing the button on the top of the clock as it begins to count down as he pulls two pairs of bells from his pocket. 

"Your assignment is very simple, you just have to take these bells from me." Oh, I remember when he did this test on Kaoru and I. "If you can't get  a bell by noon, then you go without lunch. You'll be tied to those posts and watch while I eat my lunch in front of you. Whether or not Kaoru and Kaito want to be as mean and do the same is completely up to them," he points out, clutching the bells in his hand. 

"Wait a minutes, there's three of us. How come there's only two bells?" Sakura asks, her suspicious rising. Kakashi smiles before tossing Kaoru and I a bell of our own which is gold instead of silver. "If you can take a golden bell from them, I'll promote you to a chūnin. Be wary, you'll have a better chance of going up against me alone than together against one of them. I trained them myself from a really young age, and might I say, they are probably better than me."

I stare at the bell before pulling my arm away from Sasuke and tie the bell around the yellow belt on my waist, making sure it's easy to pull out but it won't fall out either. Kaoru and I jump away from them and stand next to dad, me on his left and him on his right. I place a hand on my waist and smile. 

"You can use an weapons including shuriken. If you're not prepared to kill us, then you won't be able to take the bells," Dad says, tying the bells to his pants. "Those weapons are too dangerous, Sensei!" Sakura cries, shaking her head. Naruto lets out a laugh and clutches his hands behind his neck. "Especially because you couldn't even dodge that eraser."

"Class clowns are usually the weakest links. You can safely ignore them. Lowest scores equals losers. When I say start, you can begin," Kakashi says. Before he has a chance to say start, Naruto charges at him with a kunai. In a split second, Naruto has he kunai pointed at the back of his head. 

"Don't be in such a hurry. I didn't say start yet. However, you came at me with the full intention of killing me. So, how can I put this? I'm actually staring to like you guys," he chirps. Sakura and Sasuke take a step back as he releases Naruto who stumbles forward. 

"Get ready. And.. Start!" With that, the three jump away and head for safety within the trees. 

I wonder if they will pass or fail.
