Chapter 1

Percy's POV

As we stood there facing the earth mother,and all her army,all I could think was that this is our last stand.There was no way we could survive.All my friends stood bravely with determined faces.Annabeth had her ivory dagger in her hand.Hazel was on Arion.Frank was in the shape of a dragon.Leo was on fire.Jason standing there with his gold coin in his hand.Piper was holding her cornucopia.They all had brave faces on,but I new that they were terrified.I couldn't let them die.Hera did ounce tell me that loyalty could be my downfall.I new what I had to do to save my friends and my camp,its a foolish choice but if I succeed Gaia wont be a coming back and she wont hurt anymore people.Its a small price to pay.One life of demigod for the lives of millions.I had to succeed.

My friends looked at me,then they looked at the army.I nodded and we charged.I had only one priority.To get to Gaia.My friends wouldn't last long in this fight so I had to move fast.I ran as fast as I could but it was still hard to dodge all those monsters.

When I finally reached Gaia she was smiling.Her eyes were closed but I could tell she was on the verge of waking.She turned her head to my and said,"You know you cannot defeat me little demigod,so why would you be so foolish and leave your precious friends down there to die?"

I stayed silent and stared at her.

"Cant you feel their life slipping away.That little Levesque girl is only minutes away from death.And so is that Valdez boy.Its a shame I couldn't get you and your little girlfriend as my sacrifices,but these will do."

My eyes widened as realization hit me.

"Noooooo!" I yelled and looked down and saw two of my friend crumple to the ground.

When I looked back at dirt face she had a huge grin and slowly her eyes opened.Her eyes were surprisingly beautiful.They were green with specks of blue.They were beautiful,but menacing.

"I am awake.Now nothing will stop me."

"Oh ya?",I yelled at her.

I lunged at her,but she was fast.I new I had to go with the plan or there would be no hope left.

I lunged at her again and again when finally I hit her in the shoulder.She quickly healed,but before she healed some blood spilled from her wound and on to the stone.Perfect.

She smirked at me thinking that I had given up but then I cut the palm of my hand and spilled the blood were her blood still was.She looked at me confused,not knowing what was going on.Then I started to chant.

"Gaia the earth goddess,I bond to you.

Our life and death are one,we two.

In blood,in war,in flame,in strife.

We are one,a single life"

When I finished the empathy ritual,the sky rumbled so loud you could feel the ground shake.

Gaia was shocked and wide eyed."No no no no",she mumbled,"NO!"

At that moment I turned the knife on myself and stabbed myself in the heart.
