My tired eyes slowly opened, adjusting to the dim light coming from my lamp that I had forgotten to turn off last night. Today was Monday, and my first day at a new school since I moved. "I hate waking up this early..." I mumbled, my head shoved into my pillow.

It took me a few moments to actually get out of bed. I laid there for a few minutes, then sat on the edge of my bed, contemplating whether I needed an education or not, then I eventually decided to get up.

I yawned as I stretched my arms out, grabbing my glasses from my bedside table and slipping them on before approaching my dresser which was across from my bed. I swiftly picked out a blue t-shirt, some ripped jeans and my signature blue cape.

I sighed as I groggily made my way to my door. I put my hand on the knob and turned it, pulling the door open which revealed the dimly lit hallway, a lamp sat along the wall. I walked out, my clothes slung over my right arm lazily. I turned to my right and walked into the bathroom, flipping the switch next to the door then shutting it.

I looked in the mirror. My short hair was a slight mess and I looked like I hadn't slept in days. "When do I never look like a mess?" I asked myself as I stared at my face for a moment.

I had gained a few more freckles over the past year, which I honestly hated. I never show it, but I hate my freckles. My lisp was still there as well, even after getting my braces off. I had always had a lisp, my braces just made it a bit worse. I hated that, too.

I sighed then began to get ready. I grabbed a black hairbrush from the edge of the sink and brushed through my short hair lazily. I set the brush back down then grabbed my toothbrush, which sat in its holder next to the faucet.

I opened the mirror and grabbed my toothpaste swiftly. I shut the mirror and turned the water on. I put my toothbrush under the water then put some toothpaste onto the brush. I put the tube of toothpaste back behind the mirror and then began to brush my teeth.

I honestly didn't want to go to school at all. I was tired as hell sense I couldn't get to bed until three, so I only got three hours of sleep and I wasn't feeling the greatest at all, but I had to go. Can't miss the first day, I guess.

I finished brushing my teeth and set my toothbrush back in its holder after rinsing it off. Once that was done, I changed quickly. I slipped out of my pajamas and threw them in the corner of the room, nearly missing the small clothes hamper.

I slipped on my shirt then my jeans, my cape followed soon after. I decided not to put my ears on today, only because I was too lazy. I turned to the door and opened it once more, switching the light off before walking out into the hallway.

I walked back into my room and grabbed my hat which was hanging on the foot of my bed. I slipped it on my head and adjusted it. I walked over to my bedside table afterward and grabbed my phone, unplugging it and setting the cord back down on the table.

I checked the time. It was only six-fifteen. I had to leave at six-thirty. "Hm... what to do to pass the time..." I muttered to myself. I stood there for a few moments, wondering what to do until the bus would get here. "Hm... oh wait, I can try to get a hold of Preston. Why didn't I think of that before?" I said as I unlocked my phone.

Preston and I had become friends after our first year at Camp Campbell. We used to live near each other, but then I moved. So, now we go to different schools and barely get to see each other. But, we did promise we'd keep in touch.

I went to my messages and opened my most recent ones. I started typing, knowing he was awake right now. He usually gets up an hour early to practice lines for plays and all that jazz.

My text read 'Wassup theatre nerd?' I usually call him "theatre nerd" at least a million times a day. He usually just calls me "Nerris the Bitch." I know, they're not that clever, but we tried.
