Two down, one to go. I just had to convince Willow's dad that nothing would happen to her at the party. After losing her brother to alcohol poisoning three years ago when he was out with his mates, I can see why he doesn't want her to go. But, nonetheless, Willow has been so stressed lately about school and relationships with boys, what a loser, that hopefully Mr Milford will allow his daughter this one night of freedom. I drove the 20 minutes from Seb's house to Willow's, with Twenty One Pilots' slamming against the speakers. I turned my radio off just before I turn into Willow's street, so as to not startle old Mrs Robson on the corner. I slowed to a stop in front of Willow's house. I turned the car off, locked it and skipped down the cobbled path to her front door. I made my way around the verandah that surrounded her house and tapped lightly on the window at the back. The curtains instantly parted to reveal Willow's bright red waves and smiling face.
"Heya pumpkin." I said, as she pushed her window up.
"Hey you." She replied. Dad's upstairs so best you knock on the front door."
"Gotcha."
I headed back around the side of the house and placed a solid knock on the door. I heard heavy steps walking down the stairs and then the door swung open.
"Good morning miss Luna. Oh another change of colour I see, the pink looks lovely on you." I beamed at him.
"Thank you very much! I rather like it myself." I said while reaching my hand up to my pink curls.
"And to what do I owe the pleasure, Luna?" Mr Milford asked, stroking a hand through his own hair.
"I've come to talk to you about Willow and my Halloween party." At the mention of her name, Willow whisked into the doorframe as if I'd pulled out my wand and said "Accio Willow". Mr Milford looked down at his daughter, shocked by her speed. "As I was saying," I continued. "It would be just wonderful if Willow could attend."
"Well I'm not sure about this, she's only just finished her exams and -"
"Exactly! Exams are over, she needs to let out all the stress of the last month. What better and safer place than my house under my parents supervision?" I could tell I was getting somewhere with him. He seemed to be thinking about what I had just said.
"Your parents will be there?"
"Yes they will."
"May I call them?"
"You sure can." I opened my phone and handed it to him with my mum's number displayed on the screen. He walked away from the door with my phone pressed against his ear. I heard him from the doorway asking about the number of people, alcohol and level of supervision. I turned my attention to Willow.
"Ten bucks he says no?" She asked, looking sadly down at the ground.
"Deal." I said, "You're going to lose, I was very convincing." Willow smiled at me as her father came back into the hallway.
"Okay, she can go. I talked to your mum, Luna and she said that Willow could stay the night?"
"Of course she can. Thank you so much Mr Milford."
"Daniel, please."
"Thank you, Daniel."
Mr Milford or Daniel as we were apparently at that level of familiarity, left Willow and I leaning against the door frame.
"Oh I see, you two are on first name basis now."
"Damn right we are. Look out, here comes the new favourite child!"
"Oh you wish sunshine."
"Oh yes, and you owe me ten dollars thank you very much."
"Oh damn!" Willow reached into her back pocket and pulled out her phone, she took the case off and handed me the spare ten dollar note she kept in there for when we got ice cream during lunch.
"Thank you. Now get in the car I'm buying us ice cream."
"Oh yeah okay." "Going out dad see you in..." Willow yelled up the stairs.
"Back in time for dinner." I whispered.
"A few hours, I'll be back for dinner."
We listened for the far off approval noise of her father.
"Okay girls have fun."
And we were off, skipping down her garden and into my car. I turned the radio on as we left Willow's street and Tyler Joseph's voice once again filled the car.
"YOU WERE ONE OF THOSE CLASSIC ONES! TRAVELLING AROUND THIS SUN! YOU WERE ONE OF THOSE CLASSIC ONES! I WISH SHE KNEWWW YOUUU!" Willow and I sung in unison, as I turned onto the highway towards the centre of town.
