Chaos

I walked back from my first day at school in a grey jumper and tears in my eyes. I lived in a neighbourhood that everyone lived in. Everyone knew each others names. We were practically brother and sister - but that's only when you're outside your house. When you're in mine, chaos is likely to strike.

I walked through the broken doorway and ran straight into the bathroom. I grabbed a makeup wipe and wiped off my mask. It started.

I came back downstairs and caught my dad rocking in a chair, staring outside.

"...Dad?"

He kept rocking.
I stepped closer with caution.

"Dad... where's mum?"

I placed my hand on his shoulder.

He turned around, slowly

And threw a bottle my way. I dodged just in time. After all, I'm used to it.

"What time do you call this? Do you think you're too cool toooo be home errrrrly noowww?"

I've learnt from experience that I should just block him out. Until he uttered these words.

"You were an acksident! Yorr muvver never loved you!"

I froze.

A tear fell from my eye.

I ran upstairs and sheltered myself from everyone else around me.
