Twelve

-3rd person pov-

It wasn't the same without Luna around. You would often go out on solo missions and jobs for extended periods of time. You would take the harder missions because they would take your mind off it and the sadness as you had to concentrate more for longer than usual.
You would normally be away for 2 to 4 months at a time. Depression took over very very quickly although you got good at hiding it.

The year was now X784, not too long ago was Natsu's 19th birthday. You remembered the day yet we're busy on your mission and couldn't come say happy birthday to him, even though you felt extremely guilty for not showing up. You had been away for the past 12 months on a longer mission and were finally returning home exhaustedly.

You found the guild hall was still in tact which was surprising but a relief that the psycho pair hadn't torn it up.

You sighed heavily before opening the door.
You walked in and greeted the few people that were standing at the request board, grabbed another mission and walked toward the door once again, quickly getting in and out like usual.

Natsu sat up immediately, he heard the bells on the anklet he given you; the sound he has been waiting for for the past 12 months but couldn't see you behind the crowd of people across the room.
There were a lot of new people that must have joined the guild while you were away this time.

You looked over to see gray sitting with a blonde, she had huge boobs that were the first thing you could see about her as they were so exposed, not to mention her absolutely stunning face and adorable hair style.

'Classic. I'm surprised Loke isn't with her too' you think to yourself holding back a snicker.

You were about to walk out when you felt something strange, like someone was watching you weirdly.
You slowly turned around to see the blonde from before looking directly at you. You nodded slightly as a greeting, not wanting to speak but before you had the chance to look away the blondes stare had attracted one of the pinkette next to her.

Natsu Dragneel.

"Y/n?" His voice sung out, he practically jumped to his feet to fully stand up, happy he was right about recognising you.
He looked shocked but happy to see you, his signature grin appearing instantly across his perfect face.
You smiled at him and gave a small wave, your perfect dimples showing as you do so.

"Hey, I'll see you soon Natsu" you say softly and start to walk away, wanting to get back to work as soon as you could.
He sighs upset that you weren't staying for longer considering you had just walked in the door less than 2 minutes ago, and slumps back down next to the unknown blonde, a wave of sadness and disappointment instantly hitting him.

"Jeez she looks all grown up, it's been a while since I've seen her" gray comments with a smirk.
"Who's she?" Asks Lucy curiously.
"Natsu and i's best friend" happy says  confidently.

Natsu let's out a small huff, then aggressively out of nowhere slams his hands to the table, startling Lucy then quickly stands up and runs towards you trying to catch up to you.

"Y/n wait!" He screams out, stopping you in your place.
You turn around, your now long hair flowing out around you as you do, you spin on your heel and smile brightly at the fire mage, the sun light making your smile glow. You are standing in the door way so the breeze from outside is making your hair fly around elegantly making you look like an angel, even more beautiful in Natsu's eyes than you already did. 
"What's w-" You start but Natsu cuts you off.
"Stay" he says firmly as he runs to you with a saddened look on his face, the second he reaches you he hugs you tightly, your familiar scent flooding his nose.
You freeze instantly, wrapping your arms around him as well instinctively.
"Please" his whisper sounds like a beg.
Lucy looks at the sight, getting more and more jealous by the second.

Hearing natsu's voice sound desperate breaks your heart.

"I haven't seen my best friend in over a year" he says sadly, not letting go of you.
"I miss you" he finishes, clinging to you, afraid that you would disappear if he let go.
Instead of answering you just nod into his chest and smile, gently squeezing him.

Once he pulled back the two of you smiled at each other and turned back around to walk fully into the guild hall.
You place the request back on the board and walked back to natsu as he was waiting for you so you could go see the others together.

"How was your birthday?" You ask smiling softly at him.
He looked at you happily, surprised that you remembered.
"The usual" he says simply while shrugging.
"You have to introduce me to everyone" you smile politely toward Natsu.
"Of course, lets go" He says and drags your off to the table he was sitting at previously.

"This is Team Natsu! As you already know happy, Erza, snowman and me, all you have to meet is linguine" he says and points to the blonde.
A tick appears above her head as he says that.
"My name is Lucy, Natsu for the last time!! And it's a pleasure to meet you, y/n?" She says questioningly.
"The pleasure is all mine, and yes it's y/n" you smile.
You take a seat next to her and smile
"You're so pretty! We're lucky to have so many beautiful people here" you say to Lucy quietly. She blushes instantly.
"O-oh I'm nothing special! But thank you" she says flattered.
"She's right y'know. She isn't special" happy says.
"Shut it cat!" She snaps.
"Hey Gray, long time no see" you say smiling at the ice mage.
"No kidding, you look great though" he smiles back.
"Oh stop it" you giggle, while lucy and happy argue, natsu and Gray start an argument of their own and you turn to talk to Erza for a moment.

"How has life been treating you Titania? I never expected you to work in a team with these two idiots" you say laughing slightly.
She smiles at you and chuckles.
"Neither did I to be honest. But alas, life is good. How are you though y/n, I heard you have had quiet a fair share of fights nowadays with dark guilds" Erza asks curiously, smiling slightly, happy and Lucy listen in putting their argument behind them.
"A fair few have been doing the wrong things and getting in my way, there's no harm in taking down villains" you say smirking.
"The word on the street is you are strong enough to beat me, would you believe it?" Erza says returning your smirk.
"You know I would never admit to that even if it were true! Who am I to steal your title" you say waving your hands, you have always had a great deal of respect for Erza.
"It is a simple question, don't take it so seriously" Erza laughs slightly.
"I believe it would be close but you will always win, you're strong Erza. You can take the pain" you say smiling, admiring her slightly.
She begins to sparkle with joy.
"You're the sweetest little thing you know that!" She says and plays with your cheeks.

"Didn't think I would see that..." Lucy says to happy.
"Aye" he replies, the two sweat drop.

A rogue table comes flying toward to two girls but is quickly shut down as y/n stops it with her hand like it were nothing.
Both girls shoot evil glares toward natsu and Gray who accidentally threw the table their way.
They stop fighting immediately and hug, acting like best friends and shy away from the glares.

"How long have you been in this guild Lucy?" You ask curiously stopping the silence.
"Only about 2 months" she replies smiling.
"How long have you been here?" She asks back.
"Around 7 or 8 years nearly I would say" you smile back.
"Oh really?" Lucy asks smiling at you.
"Hmm, are you enjoying it here?" You ask.
"It's so incredible here! I always dreamed of being a fairy tail wizard and now that I am it's like a dream come true!!" Lucy began her painfully long, heartwarming speech about how wonderful it is to be a member of fairy tail, fan girl-ing at herself as you just sat and listened with a smile.

-Natsu's POV-

She was always so happy, no matter what happens. I had never seen her that upset until Luna passed. Sure she had her dark moments but we all did and she was always so happy. About a month after Luna had passed she was back to her normal, bright, bubbly self but I knew it hurt her. I'm glad she's home now.
