"The Esari has found your previous campsite and they are going to start searching for you at sun-up. You need to get out of the Esari's territory, before they find you." he says. I relax when I realize he is not here to attack me. When he realizes I'm not going to scream, he takes his hand off my mouth and takes a step back.
"Who are you?" I ask him, "why are you helping us?"
"I'm Jacob. I'm helping you because I know what the Esari are up to, and it is not good." he responds.
"How do you know what they are up to?" I ask, "and how do you know who I am?"
"I'm actually part of the Esari but before you attack me, I'm on your side." he admits. He takes a breath before continuing, " I'm a spy and I know who you are, because in the headquarters of the Esari they have your picture on the wall as a wanted poster. And every single Esari knows Skye Jordan, the daughter of Callissa and Oliver Jordan, and that she possesses Fire power-"
"Okay, I think that's enough." I cut him off before he can reveal anything else. "are you going help us get through the forest? Out of Esari territory? What are you going to do?" I ask.
"I'll show you the quickest way out of Esari territory, but I am going to stay with the Esari and help you out from the inside." he says. I nod in understanding, also feeling a little disappointed, why am I feeling disappointed? Surely, I don't have a crush on him or do I? I move to wake up Dawn, only to see her already awake facing us, with a smug smile on her face.
"Wipe that smile off your face!" I say to Dawn, feeling a little bit of heat rising up in my cheeks, "we ne-"
"Need to pack up and get outta here? I know." Dawn said, "I was listening, too." I sighed and made sure my stuff was all packed up, and I took out our map.
"Ok, can you show us the way?" I asked Jacob while handing him the map. He nods, it didn't take long for him to show us the path, before he gave me back the map.
"Thank you." I tell him, while looking at the map, so the quickest way out is to the southeast. I look at him when I feel his hand on my shoulder.
"You be careful." Jacob says
"I will..." I trail off when he gives me a light kiss on the cheek. I freeze, my face red as a rose, I slowly smile while reaching up to touch my cheek. "you be careful, too."
"I will." he says smiling. I watch him leave til he is out of sight. Then I slowly turn around to see Dawn trying not to burst out laughing. I scowl at her.
"You literally froze when he kissed you." Dawn burst out, "you should have seen the look on your face! It was hilarious!" I shake my head, Dawn is seventeen and yet she is so immature sometimes. We start heading southeast following Jacob's directions after we pack. While we are walking I get this feeling that something is off, but I ignore it because I can not stop thinking about Jacob's kiss.

Everything starts going downhill when we reach this warehouse. According to the map, we are pretty much within a few miles of the border. Right in the middle of the path Jacob had shown us, we've encountered a huge black warehouse that apparently didn't exist on the map. We decide to go around it, while staying nearby so we wouldn't lose sight of the path. We get past half the warehouse, before we hear yelling.
"Dawn, run!" I shout. A few of the Esari are behind us, we manage to run faster until some more Esari come at us from the front, effectively cutting us off. "Keep running!" I throw a few fireballs toward the Esari in front of us, then I turn to deal with the ones behind us.
"Skye, no!" Dawn screams my name.
"Don't stop!" I shout, "keep running!" I put up a wall of fire to stop the Esari behind us. I let out a grunt of pain when I hit the ground, having been tackled hard from behind. I guess, I didn't stop the Esari that were in front of us. I keep trying to ignite my hands but gasp in surprise, when they don't seem to work. Flat on my stomach, my head shoved in the dirt, I felt my captors, tying my hands together. But then, they pause and I feel a cold, hard wind blow near us.
"Leave my sister alone!" Dawn screams. I manage to lift my head off the ground and look at Dawn, my eyes widen. It looks like Dawn was surrounded by a tornado of clear white. There were dots of white everywhere and dark gray storm clouds forming, above us. Soon, I could only faintly see Dawn behind the curtain of soft, thick snow. She was creating a blizzard! The wind keeps blowing harder and harder until my Esari captors are blown away, after that, it becomes clear again and I saw Dawn swaying on her feet, before falling to the ground.
"Dawn!" I scream. I manage to get up, even with my hands loosely tied behind my back. I shake off the ropes before I get to Dawn. I kneel down, beside her and I search for her heartbeat. It's faint, but there. I sigh with relief knowing she is going to be okay. These kinds of things are normal when you first get powers. Everyone in our family had powers except for Dawn, but today she finally discovered hers.
"Hands above your head" A voice boomed from behind me. I look up to see that I was surrounded, a wide circle of Esari are around me, their guns pointing at me. Since I was in a position where I couldn't do anything without Dawn getting harmed, I reluctantly hold up my hands. One of the Esari who seems to be the captain comes up to me and handcuff my hands in front. Another one gently picks up Dawn 'bridal style' and carries her behind me, while the captain roughly leads me into the warehouse.
The inside of the warehouse is not what you would expect a warehouse to look like, there were hallways and many rooms, not a big open space. The inside of the warehouse seems to be bustling with activity, like something big was about to happen. Suddenly the hallway opens up into a big spacious room, there is a table in the middle with some sort of plans on it. Around the table are multiple men and women, conversing about their plans, one of them, who looks like the leader, notices us approaching and smiles. The captain lead me closer to the leader and forces me to my knees.
"Thank you, captain." the leader said, smiling down at me, " you know, a year was a long time to evade us. It's a wonder you were never caught." He took a breath before continuing, "James Max, leader of the Esari at your service"
"Since we are finally face to face, I have a question. What do you want from me?" I asked boldly, attracting the attention of everyone in this room.
"Why, your power of course." James said, as if it was obvious.
"What makes you think I'll offer it to you?" I glare at the leader. He grabs my chin and forces me to look up at him.
"Well for starters, I have your sister, and pretty sure you will do anything to protect her." he said, "oh well, it's your choice in the end. I'll give you some time to think it over." The captain comes over, forces me back to my feet and starts leading me out of the room. The person carrying Dawn follows behind us, to a expensive looking room, there was a whole bunch of scientists and scientific equipment, I'm guessing it's probably the Esari's version of R&D. One of the scientists come over with two pairs of bracelets one set red and the other blue, the scientist take the red bracelets and put them on my wrists, the blue ones on Dawn. Then the captain leads us down the hall to a jail cell, there he unhook the cuffs. I rub my wrists, while the other person lays Dawn gently onto one of the beds. The captain then locks the door, leaving Dawn and I alone. I go over to Dawn to check on her, her heartbeat is stronger which is good. I curl up next to her and fall asleep.
I'm awoken the next morning when I hear footsteps coming to our cell, and I see it's Jacob.
     "You guys, ok?" he asks.
"Well, I have no injuries, I'm with my sister still, but I'm in a jail cell, I have these bracelets and now I don't know whether to trust you," I reply, "I haven't tested my theory yet, but I think these bracelets prevent me from using my powers."
"Well, you are right about the bracelets. They are engineered to neutralize your powers." he says, "but enough about that, let me explain when we get out of here." I stare at him for a few moments before I sigh and let him help. He unlocks the door and I hear a faint moan. I look at Dawn, She's looking much better, and is finally waking up.
"Hey Dawn, you ok?" I ask.
"Not really. Where are we?" Dawn asks
"Well we are in a jail cell, but Jacob is here." I respond.
"I'm going to get you two out of here and personally see you through the boundary line to make sure you're safe" Jacob reassures us.
"Thank you, but what are you going to do after you get us out? You will be seen as an enemy if you help us." I ask him.
"I'm going to stay with you and make sure you're safe." Jacob says. He comes into the cell and helps carry Dawn out. We safely make it through the halls without getting spotted, but when we get to the large garage there is only a small jeep left. We put Dawn in the back seat, while Jacob and I get in the front. While we're driving out of the garage we hear an alarm, I turn and I notice someone standing in front of the alarm button on the wall. Outside of the warehouse, we see all the missing vehicles parked, waiting. When they see us, they start after us.
"Hey, can you take the wheel?" Jacob asks with a mischievous grin, "there is something I have been waiting to do for a while." I watch in the rearview mirror as the cars in the front get lifted up and flipped over, effectively blocking the ones behind.
"You have telekinesis!? Why didn't you tell me" I shouted.
"I'm not obliged to tell you everything about me. And besides I thought you didn't trust me." he shouted back, "also we are almost to the border."  I could see the border gate, but it looked like it was closing.
"The gate is closing!" I tell him. I hear him sigh, he puts his hands in front and concentrates. We are close enough that I can see the gate quivering, but on the side of the road, I can see a lever for the gate. I grab a screwdriver from the back while keeping one hand on the wheel, I aim carefully and I throw the screwdriver, it hits the lever at the same time Jacob breaks the gate open and we drive onto Musai territory, safe from the Esari. After we crossed the border, I look back and see the Esari stopping before the border. It looks like the Esari really are too scared to cross the border. Happy with letting Jacob drive, we switch places. I crawled into the back sitting in a comfortable position next to Dawn, I let sleep take over with one lingering question still on my mind. What are we going to do now?
