"Amaya Ebony report to the principals office. Now."
I mentally groaned. Why did they have to call me now of all times? I stumbled out of the lifeless classroom thinking about my options. I could either argue back & fight for myself or just sit there and let them scold me like always.
I walked quickly, but not because I wanted to go to the principals office; I just had to talk to my best friend Harper.
When I reached her class I made hand signals that I hoped she understood as: Get your butt out here!
After what felt like years I saw her look up and nod then ask her teacher if she can go to the bathroom. The second the door closed behind her she asked sarcastically,
"What did you do now?"
"Ha ha. Very funny, but I did nothing this time." I answered back with a little sarcasm.
"Then why aren't you in class?" She questioned.
"They called me to go to the principals office." I reply while she just stood there smirking.
Harper was the person I told everything to and I thought of her as my sister. We met in ninth grade but it feels like I've known her my entire life. And knowing her I was sure she thought the reason for me being called to the principals office was because I'd done something to Colton. As if to prove my point she shouts,
"Did you hit Colton? I thought you said you weren't go to!"
I'm not going to lie, I actually flinched. I hated when she raised her voice at me.
"No, I didn't hit him." I answered
with a bit of annoyance in my voice.
She frowned, "You didn't?"
"No, but I might've if our principal, Mr. Harrison, wasn't such a - "
"Do you smell that?" Harper interrupted frowning.
"It's called school food!" I laughed.
She frowned again. "No this is different. It smells like - "
She took a whiff.
".... I don't know, but I'm strongly attracted to it."
The second the words left her mouth I froze. I smelled it now too and I knew what it was. Before I could tell Harper to cover her nose and hide, I saw something move towards us. I pushed Harper back and jumped towards the thing approaching us. I jumped so high I almost flew over him. I fell on top of him and hissed,
"Who are you?!"
He twisted and somehow I ended up under him.
"I could ask you the same question." He replied smugly.
I hissed again and flashed him my fangs. Oh I forgot to mention, I'm half-vampire.
